Faces of the University — portraits that tell the stories! 🎨

The exhibition "Portraits of Professors of Cracow University of Technology" is now on display at Galeria Sztuki A1 in the heart of historic Kraków.

The portraits were created by Tytus Byczkowski, a Polish artist known for his expressive portraits and caricatures, with numerous solo exhibitions in Poland and around the world.

Located in a medieval cellar along the picturesque Kanonicza Street, the gallery has been used for showcasing artistic and architectural works connected with the Faculty of Architecture for over two decades.

📅 Open daily until 7th May, 9:00–21:00
📍 Kanonicza 1, Kraków

Take a look at the gallery below — you might spot professors standing proudly next to their painted counterparts.

This week, the Cracow University of Technology hosted the 2nd Scientific Symposium “Key Trends in Cycloaddition Reaction Chemistry” — a unique event bringing together researchers focused on one of the most dynamic areas of modern synthetic chemistry. 🔬

Participants launched the event with hands-on chromatography workshops, followed by networking sessions and plenary lectures dedicated to advanced cycloaddition methods and their applications — from smart polymer materials to bioactive compounds.

We are proud that this specialised symposium remains one of the few events in Europe dedicated entirely to cycloaddition chemistry, fostering collaboration across institutions and disciplines.

Special thanks to our sponsors, Chemat, Chemland Mariusz Bartczak , LPP Equipment, and Polygen for supporting the development of scientific research and laboratory innovation.

📸 Check out the highlights from the symposium!

From theory to vibration reality – HIVIB 2026 at Cracow University of Technology

From 10 to 12 June 2026, Cracow University of Technology will host the 17th International Symposium on Human-Induced Vibrations and Seismic Influence on Structures (HIVIB 2026) — an internationally recognized event that has been connecting researchers and engineering professionals for over 50 years.

This year’s edition will feature keynote lectures delivered by leading experts whose research shapes modern structural and seismic engineering:

🎤 Keynote Speakers of HIVIB 2026:

• Maria Pina Limongelli (Politecnico di Milano, Italy)
Human-Centered Crowdsensing for Bridge Health Monitoring

• Tadeusz Uhl (Akademia Górniczo-Hutnicza w Krakowie, Poland)
Space Technology for Infrastructure Monitoring

• Theodoros Karavasilis (Πανεπιστήμιο Πατρών University of Patras, Greece)
Revised Stiffener Spacing Requirements for Seismic Links in Eccentrically Braced Frames

• Alessandro Palermo (UC San Diego, San Diego, USA)
Resilient Rocking Timber Structures: Development, Seismic Performance, and Practical Applications

The symposium will cover a wide range of topics, including seismic performance of structures, traffic-induced vibrations, structural health monitoring, and advanced experimental techniques.

🔬 Participants will also have the opportunity to take part in hands-on laboratory workshops in the Wind Engineering Laboratory using advanced laser vibrometry systems, bridging theoretical knowledge with real-world engineering practice.

On 12 June, participants will take part in practical workshops dedicated to non-contact vibration measurements using Doppler laser vibrometers, organized in cooperation with EC TEST Systems and Polytec.

During the sessions, engineers and researchers will:
✔️ perform vibration measurements on a structural model
✅ test advanced scanning and portable laser vibrometers
✔️ compare modern non-contact methods with traditional contact-based techniques
✅ explore how dynamic diagnostics supports real-world structural assessment

The experiment will be using a model inspired by the Olszynki Park high-rise complex — one of Poland’s most distinctive modern developments and an excellent case study for dynamic analysis.

From Kraków to Groningen, our students are stepping onto the European stage! 🇵🇱➡️🇳🇱

Students from the Cracow University of Technology are taking part in the first-ever STARS EU Student Case Competition, hosted by Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen.

Poland is represented by four talented students from our two faculties:

🔹 Kacper Lipski and Maksym Kurochka from the Faculty of Civil Engineering,
🔹 Joanna Turbak and Beata Zadworna from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering

Guided by their coach Augustyn Lorenc, PhD, from the Department of Transportation and Logistics Systems, the team is working alongside peers from across Europe on real-life engineering and business challenges.

Over five intensive days, participants collaborate in international teams, develop innovative solutions, and present them to an expert jury. The programme also includes networking, cultural exchange, and plenty of opportunities for international collaboration. 🌍

Fingers crossed for our team! ✊🎓

Last Wednesday, the halls of Klub Kwadrat came alive with music during the 14th Song Contest for the Rector of Cracow University of Technology Award, organised by the International Centre of Education 🎤✨

The audience enjoyed performances in a rich mix of languages — Ukrainian, Belarusian, Japanese, Russian, and Polish — turning the evening into a true celebration of cultures.

The competition follows a two-stage format: first, contestants perform a song in a language other than Polish, and then present works by Polish artists in Polish.

🏆 The jury awarded three main prizes:

🥇 1st place: Anna Yanushyna (Ukraine)
for her performance of Giacomo Puccini’s aria “O mio babbino caro” and “Priscilla’s Song” from The Witcher game

🥈 2nd place: Maryia Paplauskaya & Yaseniya Sanko (Belarus)
for “Niebezpieczna” by Nizkiz and “Tak smakuje życie” by Enej

🥉 3rd place: Valeryia Vasileuskaya (Belarus)
who performed “Pas przeciwległy” by Nansi & Sidorov and “Wiśnie” by Kaśka Sochacka, accompanying herself on guitar

👏 Valeryia Vasileuskaya also received the Audience Award.

Take a look at the gallery below and relive the musical highlights of the evening! 📸🎶
