Sometimes people speak too fast…

When you learn Polish, one big problem is this:

🇵🇱 People speak fast.
People speak fast.

Very fast.
Too fast.

And you think:

🇵🇱 Nie rozumiem.
I don’t understand.

But don’t panic. This is normal.

Today you will learn how to say:

🇵🇱 Ja mówię.
I speak.

🇵🇱 Ty mówisz.
You speak.

🇵🇱 Ty mówisz za szybko.
You speak too fast.

🇵🇱 Nie rozumiem.
I don’t understand.

🇵🇱 Możesz mówić wolniej?
Can you speak more slowly?

The magic sentence

This sentence is very useful:

🇵🇱 Możesz mówić wolniej?
Can you speak more slowly?

You can use it in a shop, in a restaurant, at work, with neighbors, or with Polish friends.

And yes , it is much better than pretending you understand everything.
My technique when people speak too fast

When someone speaks too fast, I don’t try to understand every word.

First, I listen for the main idea.

Then I say:

🇵🇱 Przepraszam, nie rozumiem.
Sorry, I don’t understand.

Or:

🇵🇱 Możesz mówić wolniej?
Can you speak more slowly?

And sometimes my face says everything before I say anything.

The person looks at me and thinks:

“Oh… okay. Too fast.”

Don’t pretend too much

Many learners pretend they understand.

They smile.

They nod.

They say:

“Yes, yes, okay.”

But inside they think:

“What is happening?”

Don’t worry. This is normal, but it is not always helpful.

It is better to say one simple sentence:

🇵🇱 Nie rozumiem.
I don’t understand.

That is not a failure.

That is communication.

Useful mini-dialogue

🇵🇱 Cześć! Mówisz po polsku?
Hi! Do you speak Polish?

🇵🇱 Trochę.
A little.

🇵🇱 Przepraszam, mówisz za szybko.
Sorry, you speak too fast.

🇵🇱 Możesz mówić wolniej?
Can you speak more slowly?

🇵🇱 Tak, oczywiście.
Yes, of course.

This weeks Polish lesson is about:
🗑️ “Wyrzuć śmieci”
= “Take out the trash”

Sounds simple, but this is how real language works.

Instead of teaching random textbook grammar, we focused on:

✔️ repetition
✔️ emotions
✔️ real-life tension
✔️ humor
✔️ useful daily phrases

The story is about a guy “working” on his phone while his wife tries to convince him to take out the trash 😅

At first:

“Teraz nie mogę.”
“I can’t now.”

“Pracuję.”
“I am working.”

But then…

🥟 “Dostaniesz pierogi.”
“You will get pierogi.”

🍣 “I sushi.”
“And sushi.”

Final result:

🏃 “Już lecę!”
“I’m coming right away!”

This type of storytelling helps beginners remember vocabulary much faster because the phrases are connected to emotions, humor and repetition.

Simple Polish.

Real situations.

No complicated grammar explanations.
