!!ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE RECTORS HOURS 8TH MAY 2026!!

Dear Students!
In accordance with the decision of the Rector of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University Radosław Dobrowolski - Rektor UMCS, Rectors hours come into effect from 13:30hrs to 16:00hrs.
This is in connection with the organization of the Student Procession in Lublin – a unique event designed to integrate the academic community of all Lublin universities
It is hoped that this decision will enable a larger number of students to participate in one of the most highly anticipated student events in Lublin.

Yesterday, ATHENA took part in the high-level conference “Investing in Europe’s Future: Funding Pathways for Higher Education” at the European Parliament in Brussels 🇪🇺.
The event brought together European policymakers, universities, regional authorities, and industry representatives to discuss the future of higher education and innovation funding across Europe.
ATHENA was proud to contribute to this important dialogue on sustainable university alliances and international cooperation. Our Rectors where in attendance for this monumental conference

UMCS Students return from Blended Intensive Programme titled “Conflict Resolution: From Theory to Practice” at Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
Our students Karen Nivah Mahushi from Tanzania, Rhode Lenna Ngorore from Burundi, Eric Nahimana and Nasenge Jean Claude from Rwanda recently took part in a Blended Intensive Programme titled “Conflict Resolution: From Theory to Practice” at Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The one-week program provided them with valuable academic and personal experiences. Karen shared her excitement about the academic trip, highlighting how much she learned during her time abroad. She emphasized gaining a sense of self-responsibility, learning how to cope with challenges, improving teamwork skills, and building networks that she believes will be useful for her future academic career. Rhode, who is about to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in International Relations, described the program as a significant opportunity. She noted that it deepened her understanding of conflict resolution and expressed her eagerness to apply this knowledge by contributing to her community in Burundi.

UMCS Students returned from Taiwan-European connectivity programme!
UMCS students returned from a study trip to Taiwan as part of the Taiwan–European Connectivity Program at National Sun Yat-Sen University. Eric and Jean Claude, who had been representing UMCS through the program, shared their perspectives. They expressed sincere appreciation for UMCS for actively supporting its students and creating international opportunities. They also strongly encouraged UMCS students, especially international students to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the university. Furthermore, they reflected on how, as African students, particularly from Rwanda, UMCS had become a gateway connecting them to the wider world. The experiences they gained in Taiwan significantly transformed their perspectives in ways they had not expected. As students of International Relations, they emphasized that the practical skills they were acquiring through those international experiences would undoubtedly be valuable for their future careers.
