📢 New Publication Alert!

We are excited to share our latest research published in Journal of Zhejiang University SCIENCE B:
"Pig meniscus single-cell sequencing reveals highly active red zone chondrocyte populations involved in stemness maintenance and vascularization development"

Meniscus injuries are a common challenge, and current treatments often fall short in promoting effective healing. In this study, we provide critical evidence supporting the use of pigs as a biological model for meniscal degeneration and for developing advanced orthopaedic therapies.

Moreover, our research confirms that the cellular composition of the pig meniscus closely resembles that of humans, further validating pigs as a robust model for orthopaedic research.

🚀 Groundbreaking Research Alert! 🚀

We are proud to announce the publication of our latest study, showcasing a novel, scalable, and cost-efficient process for dECM extraction from porcine meniscus, specifically tailored for bioink preparation and 3D bioprinting.

Key Achievements:
🔹 Developed an innovative protocol combining homogenisation, hydrolysis, supercritical CO2 (scCO2) extraction, and lyophilisation.
🔹 Maintained native compounds and biocompatibility, ensuring optimal printability.
🔹 Created a conducive environment for cell proliferation and differentiation towards a meniscus-like phenotype.
🔹 Implemented an economically and ecologically friendly approach, reducing reliance on solvents, detergents, and expensive enzymes.
🔹 Achieved substantial DNA reduction and proposed a broader assessment of decellularisation effectiveness beyond DNA content alone.

This research represents a significant step forward in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, challenging existing paradigms and setting new standards for decellularisation processes.

We invite you to explore our findings and join the conversation on how this innovation can transform the future of bioengineering.
