The Academic Association for Doctoral Students of English and the Student Feminist Society (Faculty of Humanities, Nicolaus Copernicus University) would like to invite students of English as well as young researchers and doctoral students to participate in an online conference “Politics And Poetics of Difference: Approaches in Anglophone Literature, Culture and Linguistics”.

The conference will be held online on 2-3 June, 2023 and is free to all participants.

Abstracts (150-250 words) should be sent by 14th April, 2023 to [email protected]. All submissions must include the first and last name, e-mail address, institutional affiliation, and a biographical note (50-100 words).

Notifications of acceptance will be sent by 28th April, 2023

A piece of good news from the end of 2021 for a good start of 2022 :) We proudly announce that our students won the top prizes in the 9th edition of the "Tłumacze na e-start!" competition. Yes, they did it again! Natalia Jaworańska, Kamil Śnietka, and Anna Stefańska came third, fourth, and fifth, respectively, and will pursue translation training at Skrivanek, the competition organiser. Congratulations!

Is translation your strong suit? If so, try your hand at the "Tłumacze na e-start!" competition organised by the Skrivanek translation agency. All you need to do is to complete the application form and submit it to mgr Magdalena Kopczyńska ([email protected]), who'll forward it to the organisers who'll get in touch with you to guide you through the competition step by step. The deadline for submissions is 31 October. May the best person win!

Szanowni Państwo,
serdecznie zapraszamy do udziału w wieczornym spotkaniu filmowym online, na którym będzie można obejrzeć krótkie filmy dokumentalne i fabularne o tematyce zdrowia psychicznego oraz neuroróżnorodności, tłumaczone przez studentów filologii angielskiej z grupy "Media, film, theatre".

Wydarzenie rozpocznie się o 18:45 na platformie MS Teams. Ze względu na tematykę filmów rozpocznie je krótkie spotkanie ze specjalistkami, którym będzie można zadać pytania z zakresu profilaktyki i terapii zdrowia psychicznego. Następnie zaprosimy publiczność do oglądania i komentowania kilkunastu filmów, które pozostaną dostępne na platformie przez cały tydzień. Jeśli więc ktoś nie da rady być z nami na żywo, może odwiedzić kanał w dogodnym terminie.

Student Feminist Society and Faculty of Humanities at Nicolaus Copernicus University are pleased to announce an online conference “(Im)perfect women in (im)perfect worlds: Dystopias, utopias, and feminism at the beginning of the 21st century.” The conference is directed to students, young scholars, independent researchers, and literature enthusiasts who are interested in topics related to dystopian realities. Both papers and poster presentations are welcomed.

This is to congratulate Wiktor Godlewski (1yr MA), Jakub Jakubowski (3yr BA), and Martyna Bartkowska (1yr MA) on their landslide victory in the "Tłumacze na e-start 2020" competition. They took the competition from other Polish universities by storm and ranked first, second, and fourth, respectively, thus winning the main awards. You are the best!
