On behalf of Multilingualism Research Hub (https://multirhub.idub.uw.edu.pl/), we would like to invite all faculty members and students to two guest lectures on linguistic research employing EEG.
📌20.10.2022 (this Thursday), 11.30-13.00
📌Dobra 55, room 1016
Two speakers will present their research:
Dr Karolina Broś (Institute of Applied Linguistics)
🔷Using N400 in phonological research - the 'semantics' of word stress perception
I will describe my study on word stress perception in Spanish in which I elicited a semantic ERP component called N400 (although disclaimer: it's not only semantic, I'm simplifying matters a bit). I will briefly talk about the N400, then about previous research on stress perception and implications for phonology, and then about the study I designed.
Dr Kalinka Timmer (Faculty of Psychology)
🔷Let's talk bilingualism: the impact of language context on attention and control mechanisms🔷
How does bilingual language control flexibly adapt to different language contexts? Long-term bilingualism has been suggested to impact the efficiency of control mechanisms. Here we explore short-term language context changes (e.g., monolingual vs. bilingual context) on the plasticity of control mechanisms.
