🗞️Exciting news!

Today we officially started the physical component of the Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) “European Territorial Cooperation as a Response to Contemporary Challenges of European Integration – Communities, Economy, Environment” at the Uniwersytet Wrocławski, Faculty of Social Sciences UWr 🇵🇱

The students have joined us at the Instytut Studiów Europejskich Uniwersytet Wrocławski for the period from 18th to 22nd May and we couldn’t be happier to act as hosts 🥳

The programme brings together students and academics to explore how European cooperation can respond to contemporary economic, environmental, and social challenges while strengthening integration and cross-border collaboration.

Looking forward to an inspiring week full of learning and cooperation! 🌍✨

☝️Between May 3–9, Dr. Sylwia Romańska conducted a research stay in Copenhagen within the NCN Miniatura project “Youth Participation in Cross-Border Structures - pilot comparative studies in the Euroregion Pro Europa Viadrina and Euroregion Bałtyk”

🌍 The visit combined inspiring scientific consultations with scholars from CeFU at Aalborg Universitet interviews with youth organizations, library research at the The Royal Danish Library, and participant observation on Ungdomsøen a unique island run with and for young people, where democracy, responsibility, and community are practiced every day.
It was an intense but inspiring week fullfill with conversations, new perspectives, and meaningful research encounters 🤝

Guest lecture at the Instytut Studiów Europejskich Uniwersytet Wrocławski 🎓

Dr. Bartłomiej Krzysztan joined us for an insightful session on Nagorno-Karabakh, bringing his expertise from the Instytut Europy Środkowej and the Instytut Studiów Politycznych Polskiej Akademii Nauk.

The discussion also drew on his latest book on the region, published with the Kolegium Europy Wschodniej 📚

Yesterday, the Instytut Studiów Europejskich Uniwersytet Wrocławski hosted a guest lecture at the Uniwersytet Wrocławski by Prof. Roman Aghayev from Bakı Avrasiya Universiteti.

👨‍🏫 The lecture was titled “Azerbaijan – Armenia: From Burdensome Neighbourhood to Peaceful Cooperation”.

During the lecture, Prof. Aghayev provided an overview of the topic and shared insights into the dynamics of Azerbaijan–Armenia relations. 🇦🇿🇦🇲 The session concluded with a Q&A segment, giving students the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussion. 💬

EDS Winter University 2026 | Skopje, North Macedonia 🇲🇰

We are proud to highlight the participation of our student, Wiktor Tomasiewicz, who took part in the EDS Winter University (March 26–29) in Skopje as part of a delegation from the Uniwersytet Wrocławski .

This year’s edition proved to be an exceptionally intensive and valuable experience, combining substantive policy work with high-level diplomatic engagement. During the event, Wiktor had the honor of participating in meetings with key figures of the Macedonian political scene, including President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timčo Mucunski, as well as numerous Members of Parliament. These discussions offered unique, first-hand insight into the inner workings of regional and European politics.

The program included expert panels and dynamic debates, culminating in legislative sessions. Wiktor, as part of SMD Poland, together with his colleagues, submitted an original motion addressing the regulation of AI-generated content in election campaigns and political communication🤖, one of the most pressing challenges for modern democracies. The initiative sparked broad discussion among delegates and ultimately gained the support of the assembly.

We congratulate Wiktor on his engagement and contribution, and we are proud to see our students actively shaping discussions on key European issues. ✨🎉

🇵🇱🇧🇦 Erasmus+ Experience in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina 🇧🇦🇵🇱

Our student, Jakub Owczarczak, is currently spending an inspiring semester abroad at Univerzitet u Tuzli 🇧🇦 as part of the Erasmus+ programme!

During his stay, he has already taken part in presentations about Poland and its political system, actively promoting the Polish culture and educating his colleagues from BiH about Poland. In May, he has been invited to attend a conference involving representatives of the Polish Embassy and other Polish students in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He is building strong connections with local students, exploring Bosnian culture, and continuously developing his skills, including even learning Bosnian!!!

We are so proud to see how well he represents our Uniwersytet Wrocławski abroad and look forward to hearing more about his journey! 🌏📚

We’re happy to welcome our new intern, Aida, to the team! ✨

Aida comes from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina 🇧🇦, where she completed her Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and European Studies. She is currently in her second year of a Master’s program in European Legal Studies at the Univerza v Mariboru 👩‍⚖️.

Her journey to Wrocław began in October, when she attended a seminar organized by the Fundacja Krzyżowa dla Porozumienia Europejskiego / Stiftung Kreisau, following a recommendation from the Ambasada RP w Sarajewie / Ambasada R. Poljske u Sarajevu, and it didn’t take long for her to fall in love with the city. 💛

Aida has been actively involved in numerous projects and initiatives, and she’s excited to bring her experience, ideas, and energy to our institute. She’s looking forward to contributing, learning new things, and, of course, continuing to explore Wrocław!
