On October 19, 2026, the NSU Barry and Judy Silverman College of Pharmacy – Puerto Rico Regional Campus welcomed two distinguished fellows from the Northeastern University Pharmaceutical Industry Fellowship Program for an insightful professional development presentation!

We were pleased to welcome our guest speakers:

During this session, our guest speakers shared their professional journeys into the pharmaceutical industry, offered valuable insights into the fellowship application process, and discussed strategies to help pharmacy students prepare for future career opportunities.

💡 From navigating fellowship applications to exploring career pathways beyond traditional pharmacy practice, this presentation highlighted the diverse opportunities available to future pharmacists.

🦈💙 Sharks in Action: Serving Our Community! 💊🤝

At the NSU College of Pharmacy, we believe that becoming a healthcare professional goes beyond the classroom. It means making a meaningful difference in the lives of others through service, compassion, and community engagement!

On Saturday, October 17, 2026, our student pharmacists proudly participated in a community health fair during the Ying Jow Pai Family Gathering & Tournament, held at the José "Pepín" Cestero Coliseum in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. 🥋🏥

This unique event brought together martial arts practitioners, families, and community members to celebrate tradition, respect, friendship, and unity while providing our students with an opportunity to engage with the public and promote health awareness.

Through experiences like these, our future pharmacists continue to strengthen their professional identity, community outreach skills, and commitment to patient-centered care.

🎉 Congratulations to our October 2026 Student of the Month! 🦈💙
The Awards Committee is proud to recognize Student Pharmacist Tracy Velez Serran, Class of 2028, from our San Juan Campus, as our October Student of the Month!

Tracy was faculty-nominated in recognition of her outstanding commitment to service, research, leadership, and professional growth.

🌟 Community Service: Volunteered at a compounding pharmacy and served patients during the Vieques Health Fair in May 2026.

🔬 Achievement in Research: Completed the AACP Student Scholars Program and presented vaccine-education research at the AACP Annual Meeting in July 2026.

🤝 Leadership: Helped establish the Puerto Rico Campus’s first SSHP chapter as its founding president, served in additional leadership roles, and moderated a professional panel at the 2026 CFPR Annual Convention.

📚 Professional Growth: Served as an IDM peer tutor for P1 and P2 students during Summer 2026.

Membership in the Rho Chi Society, the academic honor society in pharmacy, represents a significant milestone in our students’ professional journeys and recognizes their dedication to scholarship and the advancement of the pharmacy profession.

🦈 Connecting Students with the Future of Pharmacy | EXPO 2026

On September 11, 2026, our Pharm.D. students at the Barry and Judy Silverman College of Pharmacy Puerto Rico Regional Campus had the opportunity to participate in EXPO 2026, an event designed to bring students and pharmacy preceptors together in preparation for their advanced pharmacy practice experiences.

Throughout the event, students connected directly with preceptors, explored different practice settings, asked questions, and learned more about the professional experiences available to them as they continue their pharmacy education.

These conversations go beyond networking—they help students better understand their options, build professional relationships, and make more informed decisions as they prepare for the next stages of their Pharm.D. journey.

🦈 Sharks Supporting Sharks! 💙

On August 25, 2026, students from the Barry and Judy Silverman College of Pharmacy – Puerto Rico Regional Campus came together for our Shark Mentor/Mentee Meet-Up in the PCM Lab.

The event brought together members of the Class of 2030, serving as mentees, with students from the Class of 2029, who are serving as their Shark Mentors. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to connect, build relationships, share experiences, and strengthen the sense of community that makes our College of Pharmacy so special.

Through the Shark Mentor Program, our returning students can provide guidance, encouragement, and insight to our newest Sharks as they navigate their Pharm.D. journey. These connections help create a supportive environment where students can learn from one another and grow together both academically and professionally.

🦈💙 **Discover. Connect. Get Involved! | Student Organization Showcase**

Students at the **NSU Barry and Judy Silverman College of Pharmacy – Puerto Rico Regional Campus** had the opportunity to explore the many ways they can become involved beyond the classroom during our **Student Organization Showcase**!

Throughout the event, students visited organization booths, connected directly with **student leaders**, learned about leadership roles and activities, and discovered the different opportunities available to become active members of our College of Pharmacy community.

We were proud to have representatives from AZO, NCPA, APhA, SCCP, and SSHP sharing their organizations, missions, and experiences with fellow Sharks. 🦈

Student organizations play an important role in the Pharm.D. journey by providing opportunities to develop leadership, teamwork, professional connections, service, and lifelong friendships while strengthening engagement within the pharmacy profession.

👏 A special thank you to our Student Government Association (SGA) for their assistance in organizing the event and helping create an engaging opportunity for our students to connect with their peers and explore the many ways to get involved.
