O presente ciclo de estudos foi estruturado de forma a dar uma sólida formação nas ciências que permitem um conhecimento aprofundado dos sistemas florestais, bem como nas tecnologias que permitem trabalhar com predições da resposta desses sistemas a longo prazo. Proporciona-se igualmente uma formação avançada na gestão, a diferentes escalas espaciais, de modo integrado e em função das multifuncion
alidades dos sistemas florestais. Tais competências técnico-científicas, adequadas para intervir na gestão de sistemas florestais multifuncionais de grande complexidade e importância, permitirão ao Engenheiro Florestal conceber, projectar e desenvolver, quer a nível individual quer em equipa, ferramentas de gestão, planeamento e ordenamento dos sistemas florestais, em particular dos sistemas florestais mediterrânicos. This study cycle was meant to give a solid background in sciences that will lead to a detailed knowledge on forest systems, as well as, in technologies in order to foresee these systems behavior on the long run. It also gives advanced training in integrated management, at different spatial scales, of multifunctional forest ecosystems. Such technical and scientific skills are suitable to intervene in the management of multifunctional forest systems of great complexity and importance, and will enable the Forest Engineering to conceive, to design and to develop, either individually or in team, management and planning tools of forest systems, namely the Mediterranean one´s.
