On Sunday, ICLR passed our Flight Readiness Review (FRR) and are now ready to launch Pluto!

This marks a significant milestone for the team as we approach launch with a fully integrated rocket, with each subsystem inspected thoroughly by EuRoC’s Technical Evaluation Board and rated flight-ready.

We are fully prepared for launch and are aiming for today’s second launch window at 1pm!

Stay tuned for launch updates and join the live stream today!

A big thank you to the Space Logistics Network for transporting Pluto to EuRoC and to the launch site!

We’re proud to share a major milestone in our propulsion development: the delivery of our next 3D-printed rocket engines for our upcoming test campaigns. All produced by our amazing sponsor, .
A group of ICLR members had the opportunity to visit Alloyed’s advanced manufacturing facility, where we received a tour of their intricate operations and quality assurance measures, as well as collecting the completed parts.
These engines are a critical part for the development of both our EuRoc ‘25 9km flight vehicle, Pluto, and our self-landing rocket project, Skywalker. The engines were produced using laser powder bed fusion in AlSi10Mg, where Alloyed’s expertise and guidance have been critical in sustaining our rapid testing and development. This partnership allows our team to engage directly with cutting-edge additive manufacturing and develop the technical and project experience required for careers in aerospace engineering and beyond. We’d like to thank for their continued support, and Lucy McGinty for coordinating the process and hosting our team. We’re looking forward to building on this collaboration as we push toward post machining and full system tests.

Exciting News! We are pleased to announce we have entered a partnership with Space Logistics Network, providing your end to end logistical needs for any space transport.

Space Logistics Network is a subdivision of the global Aviation Logistics Network, which is a consortium of international strategic partners, active in over 400 locations! They organise supply chains into factories and specialist transportation service of hazardous materials, shipments under export licence and flight critical components. We are very happy to receive aid in such a critical component in launching a rocket overseas like in Portugal or the US.

ICLR is pleased to announce the renewal of our partnership with Jane Street. Their support will yet again help us through our rocketry campaign as we progress with the development of our flagship rocket, PLUTO. We hope to share a successful journey to the European Rocketry Challenge 25 with our newest partners as we aim to soar the skies and break records with our most ambitious project to date!

Last week, ICLR successfully hosted the Critical Design Review (CDR) for our upcoming rocket, Pluto 2025. This bipropellant liquid rocket is designed for a groundbreaking launch, pushing the boundaries of amateur rocketry with cutting-edge engineering and innovation.

The CDR marked a crucial milestone, ensuring a rigorous review of every component and design decision before we move into manufacturing and testing. This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible engineers at ICLR—thank you for your dedication and expertise! We can’t wait to see Pluto 2025 take flight! 🚀

We're excited to share that throughout 2024 the ICLR student rocketry team has been collaborating with our amazing sponsor CFturbo to develop our first electric turbopump!

Over the past year, CFturbo's powerful turbomachinery design software has played an instrumental role in our design and development process. Specifically, we've used it to design and size our barske impeller and volute fluid sections, streamlining our approach to optimizing fluid dynamics and pump efficiency.

Thanks to CFturbo, we've been able to drastically reduce our development time, allowing us to focus more on mechanical design, testing and refining our first prototype. The intuitive interface and advanced capabilities of CFturbo have made complex tasks like modelling and simulating turbomachinery more accessible, allowing rapid design iteration and sizing.

A huge thank you to the CFturbo team for being an integral part of our turbomachinery journey in 2024!

Looking back a month ago from today, we launched Nimbus 24, our first liquid bipropellant rocket. Nimbus 24’s journey to 2.6 km at Mach 0.76 was a milestone we’ll never forget. From passing the Flight Readiness Review on day one to launching on the first try, every moment was a testament to our team’s grit and growth. 🚀

To everyone who helped make Nimbus 24 a reality, thank you for powering us forward. Here’s to higher altitudes, faster speeds, and pushing the limits of what’s possible.

EuRoC 24 day 1 is complete!

Our team arrived in Lisbon yesterday and moved in to our accommodation, putting the final touches on the rocket!

Today we arrived at the EuRoC paddock, in Aerodromo de Ponte de Sor, and immediately began our assembly! We got to showcase NIMBUS 24 to the paddock and we enjoyed talking to so many teams and seeing all the amazing rockets they brought.

The next big step for EuRoC is the flight readiness review which our team is ready for Tomorrow, stay tuned for more news!
