🎓 Welcome, Executive MBA 2026–28!
This week, The Lisbon MBA Católica | Nova welcomed its largest Executive MBA class to date: 60 students from 9 countries on five continents. They have an average age of 37 and 13 years of work experience, 35% are women, and the class brings together the most varied academic and professional backgrounds we’ve had. This range of experience is what makes the program unique, because students learn as much from each other as from the classroom.

Their first day was on the Católica-Lisbon SBE campus. Prof. Filipe Santos, Dean of Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics, welcomed them together with our Executive Director, Maria José Amich, and Prof. René Bohnsack, Academic Director. In the afternoon, Ana Caetano led the group exercise “Connecting Dots, Unlocking Horizons”, because an MBA really begins with the relationships between people.

Day two went straight into action learning, one of the pillars of our Executive MBA, with a first case led by Prof. Kyryl Lakishyk. Leslie Rubio, Managing Director and Country Head of Citi Portugal, then spoke openly about leadership in practice and the trends shaping banking. The Lisbon MBA Alumni Club Board introduced the community that will support them for life, including the upcoming Alumni Annual Summit.
We ended the day around the table with Prof. Pedro Oliveira, Dean of Nova School of Business and Economics, and Prof. Milton de Sousa, Academic Director, and the conversations went on long after the plates had been cleared.
Classes started yesterday. Welcome to the journey!

A few days ago, we welcomed Andres Ortolá, General Manager of Microsoft Portugal, to The Lisbon MBA Católica|Nova for a deep dive into the real journey of AI adoption 🚀

From infrastructure → to model creation → to real-world application, Andres unpacked what it truly takes to embed AI into organizations.

One key insight stood out: The countries leading in AI aren’t necessarily building the most advanced models, they’re the ones ensuring AI is actually used. Diffusion, not just innovation, is the real differentiator.

Drawing on the Microsoft AI Diffusion Report, the cohort explored how nations like the UAE, Singapore, and Norway are accelerating impact by focusing on adoption at scale.

Inside Microsoft, this is already happening, with teams creating AI-powered agents and rethinking workflows to drive efficiency and transformation.

Our students didn’t hold back, challenging perspectives on trust, innovation, and the future of work in an AI-driven world.

Thank you, Andres, for an insightful and forward-looking session.
