The (CiTUR) and the University of Vigo are pleased to announce the Call for Papers for the upcoming edition of our international congress.
This year’s event marks a special milestone: following CiTUR’s biennial tradition of hosting the congress in collaboration with an invited country, the current edition takes place under the organization of an international partner. For this occasion, the University of Vigo takes the helm as the host institution, framing the congress within the scope of the Visit Minho+ project—a strategic initiative dedicated to cross-border tourism development, sustainability, and regional growth.
We invite researchers, academics, and industry professionals to submit their latest research, case studies, and theoretical papers.

This Congress is funded by the Visit_Rio_Minho_Plus project.
To foster open academic exchange and maximize the impact of tourism research across borders, registration for this congress is completely free of charge for all attendees whose communications have been accepted.

We welcome submissions on a wide range of tourism-related topics, with a special emphasis on cross-border and regional dynamics, including but not limited to:

CiTUR Algarve (Centre for Tourism Research, Development and Innovation, University of Algarve) is delighted to announce that on February 24th, 2026, at 10 PM (Portugal time zone), Charles Mansfield (UK) will chair a webinar entitled "Ecosystems for literature & art tourism experiences".

Charles Mansfield is an independent academic who has been teaching at universities since 1995. He is a freelance researcher and writer. Charles completed a major, funded research project for the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, in collaboration with the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, on digital heritage management. He was also a research academic at the University of Edinburgh from January 2005 to July 2009, during which he completed an AHRC-funded project to digitise medieval literary texts. He is the co-author of Travel Writing for Tourism and City Branding: Urban Place Writing Methodologies, published with Routledge, Taylor & Francis. His PhD, published in 2015 as Researching Literary Tourism, proposes the concept of the "toureme". In April 2026, his new edited textbook, Sustainable Narratives and Technologies in Tourism, will be available from Routledge.

Synopsis of the webinar

Charles Mansfield demonstrates how he integrates social media theory and literary theory to develop a model for cultural tourism. From his writer's residency in Millbay, Plymouth, which went on to win a creative commission from Exeter's UNESCO City of Literature, he embarked on a project in literary tourism and slow tourism for the French seaside town of Ouistreham in Normandy. This talk presents the technical and practical details of this work as a model for future developers, academics and travel writers. He will make available the dialogue journaling templates he has recently refined in MS OneNote and Google Docs.

The ICOS+ The International Congress of Outdoor Sports is coming soon! The event will take place on June 25th , 26th , and 27th , 2025, in the city of Rio Maior, at the Sport Sciences School of Rio Maior, Portugal.

ICOS+ embodies a holistic approach to outdoor sports, making this academic event truly unique. We are very excited to welcome you in Portugal. Registrations and abstract submissions are open. Here are the most important things you need to know

Registration

Abstract submission and publication opportunities

You are welcome to submit your work to ICOS+. You can choose between an Oral Presentation or a Poster Presentation. The abstract should be 300 words and must be submitted through the ICOS+ website.

The publication partner is the prestigious Journal Sport in Society. The abstract proceedings will be indexed in SCOPUS, and there is an opportunity to submit a full paper for a special issue of Sport in Society.
