RCSES - Research Center in Systems Ecology and Sustainability

The Research Center in Systems Ecology and Sustainability (RCSES), is the entity of the University of Bucharest for multi and trans-disciplinary research in systems ecology and sustainability and provides support and expertise for PhD research in Ecology. With a history starting in 1992, the RESEARCH CENTER FOR SYSTEMS ECOLOGY AND SUSTAINABILITY (RCSES) was recognized in 2001/2006 as part of the U

niversity of Bucharest excellence research centers. At the present moment RCSES together with the Department of Systems Ecology and the Doctoral School in Ecology represent the major research component in ecology of the University of Bucharest. VISION
- inter and transdisciplinary research programmes for providing the scientific basis of a new vision regarding the hierarchical organisation of the environment – natural and social – in complex coupled socio-ecological systems at global scale;
- development of support platforms for sustainability governance of socio-ecological systems at local, national / regional and global scale;
- developing and promoting the university and post-university education programmes in the inter and trans-disciplinary domain of “systems ecology and sustainability of socio-ecological systems.
