Master-Class in Micro-Phenomenology

The Research Institute of the University of Bucharest (ICUB) is pleased to host a five-day master-class in micro-phenomenology, led by Professor Natalie Depraz, one of the founders and foremost theorists of this innovative method. The event is co-organized with Centre Régional Francophone d’Études Avancées en Sciences Sociales (CEREFREA Villa Noël).
Micro-phenomenology is a rigorous approach to the first-person exploration of lived experience. It investigates the temporal unfolding and affective texture of consciousness by combining systematic interviewing techniques with phenomenological analysis, allowing researchers to access the fine structure of subjective experience beyond habitual narratives.
This intensive workshop will provide both conceptual grounding and practical initiation into the method. Over the course of five days, participants will:
- train their capacity for attentive awareness and fine-grained observation of their own experience;
- acquire a clear understanding of the theoretical foundations of micro-phenomenology;
- learn the step-by-step protocol of the micro-phenomenological interview;
- conduct and analyze their own short interviews;
- discuss the application of the method to current research in phenomenology, psychology, and social sciences.

Participants will be selected on the basis of their motivation and the relevance of their research interests.
Participants who complete the full program will receive an Attestation of Participation. This document enables them to pursue the subsequent stages of certification with the Laboratoire de Micro-phénoménologie (Paris): https://www.microphenomenology.com/.
The daily schedule includes three training sessions (9:30–11:00, 11:30–13:00, 14:30–16:00), with a shared coffee break and a simple lunch taken together (pizza, sandwiches, etc.).
Participation is free of charge. Participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses. A small contribution will be requested solely for shared coffee breaks and lunches.
