Find out more about FILM AND AUDIOVISUAL STUDIES (MA) program
What do you study?
The Film and Audiovisual Studies Master’s program is a two-year academic program designed to provide students with theoretical knowledge, research skills, and critical tools necessary to analyze the contemporary audiovisual landscape. The program offers a unique opportunity to engage deeply with cinema, television, digital media, video games, and visual culture, approaching these forms not only as entertainment or artistic expressions but as complex social, cultural, and technological phenomena.
Classes explore topics such as the evolution of film and television formats in the digital age, the political and aesthetic dimensions of audiovisual media, the practices of festival curation and distribution, and the history and theory of new media.
Why is it really important?
Throughout their studies, students benefit from a wide range of academic and professional opportunities. These include access to national and international scholarships, participation in Erasmus+ exchanges, internships, and mobility within the EUTOPIA alliance. This exposure helps students build international networks and gain real-world experience in cultural institutions, media organizations, and research centers. The program also encourages students to become active participants in conferences, film festivals, workshops, and other events, both locally and internationally.
Our graduates are prepared to succeed in the knowledge-based economy, where critical thinking, interdisciplinary literacy, and the ability to manage and interpret complex media environments are increasingly valued. They can pursue further academic work in fields such as film studies, performing arts, visual arts, communication, and cultural studies, but they are equally equipped to work in a range of professional environments. These include film production and distribution companies, television networks, media consultancies, public institutions and NGOs, tech and IT business, advertising agencies, museums, galleries, and cultural policy bodies.
