Europe’s future competitiveness depends not only on market-oriented innovation, but also on strong universities, excellent research environments and transnational academic cooperation.

As discussions on the next EU Multiannual Financial Framework continue, the relationship between research, innovation and European competitiveness is becoming increasingly important.

Universities and European University Alliances have a key role to play in connecting education, research and innovation across borders, developing talent and creating the knowledge on which future innovation depends.

FORTHEM Alliance, in cooperation with the Regional Representation of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate to the EU and Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, invites you to an online FORTHEM Policy Dialogue exploring the future of university-led research in Europe.

What does it mean to live from difference? 🌍🎨

Over the course of five inspiring days, the team of the Teacher Training Department (in German) at Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu welcomed participants from across the FORTHEM Alliance for the FORTHEM Summer School: Living from Difference – Intercultural Encounters & the Contradictions of Pluriversal Ways of Being, held at the Faculty of Protestant Theology.

Through dialogue, creative workshops, shared experiences, and artistic exploration, participants reflected on themes of identity, belonging, migration, and cultural diversity.

From the very first icebreakers, where strangers became collaborators, to the final performative exhibition, every conversation, sketch, photograph, sound, and installation became part of a collective story—one that celebrated the richness of different perspectives and reminded us that creativity can be a powerful language for intercultural dialogue.

Thank you to everyone who brought their curiosity, openness, and creativity to this unforgettable experience. 💚
