CLIMATE CHANGE IN THE MOUNTAINS. TRANSECT WEST TO EAST. FROM BRITISH COLUMBIA TO ROMANIAN CARPATHIANS
A Cirques&Lakes Team of University of Suceava and Applied Geography Association GEOCONCEPT (Marcel Mindrescu and Daniel Forgaci) is ready for Scientific Expeditions in the Coast Mountains in British Columbia, Canada. We will pay attention mostly of Bendor and Shulaps Ranges. We are accompanied by professor Ian S. Evans who is revisiting this region for the 14th time, his first visit here was in 1964. So our results will be compared with what he got from previous visits, especially maps, notes and photos of glacial features and deposits, glaciers advances and/or retreats, firn and snow distribution and thickness, glacial cirques morphometry, etc.
Also we are here to join Ian for his last visit here (this is region for his PhD thesis) as a tribute for being the most important mentor, and only professional one in my career, in the field of geomorphology, especially glacial geomorphology. It is a great honor for us to take part of this expedition along with the best glacial geomorphologist over the world as mentor, friend and great charcter person. Thank you Ian for making all these possible for us.
We would like to thanks to our life partners, our families and best friends for their support and patience.
Personally I am deeply greatful to former professor and friend Gary Davis from St. John, Canada for his support and today gift. He is supporting me since I was PhD student including my expedition in Himalayas in 2011.Thank you, Gary.
This expedition is for science prupose and to promote Romanian research group (far away from our home) from our home university and we dedicate this to all our best friends mentioned above. Thank you all very much and for sure we will miss our home friends but we promise to stay safe and get good results in order to understand climate change better. See you soon.
Sincerely yours,
Dr. Marcel Mindrescu
