Centrul de Cercetare a Istoriei Relatiilor Internationale si Studii Culturale "Grigore Gafencu" este o institutie de cercetare autonoma, fara personalitate juridica, care functioneaza in cadrul Facultatii de Stiinte Umaniste a Universitatii Valahia din Targoviste. Centrul "Grigore Gafencu" se bucura de recunoasterea Consiliului National pentru Cercetare in Invatamantul Superior (CNCSIS). Centrul a

re in vedere, in mod prioritar, cercetarea istoriei relatiilor internationale, din perspectiva moderna si contemporana, dar si a diverselor teme de istoria moderna si contemporana, adiacente domeniului prioritar. Aceste domenii tin cont de specializarea membrilor centrului si raspund intentiilor acestora de cercetare. dr. Ion Stanciu, caruia ii revine sarcina de a coordona si evalua calitatea actului de cercetare, de a gandi diverse proiecte si teme de cercetare, de a asigura un climat de dialog stiintific in cadrul centrului. Intrunirile membrilor coletivului de cercetare au loc periodic, nu mai rar de o data pe luna, si urmaresc gandirea de noi strategii de cercetare, evaluarea etapelor parcurse in cursul cercetarii, analiza diverselor formule care pot face cercetarea mai eficienta. La un interval de sase luni are loc o intrunire speciala dedicata analizei mai largi a stadiului proiectelor de cercetare in care este implicat centrul. Centrul coordoneaza o revista internationala proprie, initiata in 2004, Valahian Journal of Historical Studies (revista recunoscuta de CNCSIS, tip B+), cu aparitie bianuala, ajunsa la cel de-al 14-lea numar, in al carei colectiv de redactie sunt actualmente cercetatori si profesori de la universitati din Bulgaria, Finlanda, Franta, Italia, Lituania, Romania, Spania si Turcia, alaturi de sase dintre membrii echipei noastre de cercetare. Unul dintre membrii centrului, Conf.univ.dr. Silviu Miloiu, este redactorul-sef ai acestei revistei. Activitatea centrului s-a materializat, de asemenea, intr-o serie de contracte de cercetare internationale si nationale. Centrul numara 17 membri si 7 membri asociati, cadre didactice titulare ale Universitatii Valahia din Targoviste si doctoranzi la zi, dar si cadre didactice si cercetatori la alte institutii prestigioase din tara si din strainatate. Toti membri care fac parte din echipa de cercetare a centrului au o pregatire profesionala foarte buna si o experienta complexa de cercetare axata pe domeniile incare centrul isi desfasoara activitatea.

We are pleased to announce that, starting in March 2025, Professor Monica Mărgărit has been elected Director of the “Grigore Gafencu” Research Center of History of International Relations and Cultural Heritage at Valahia University of Târgoviște.
Professor Monica Mărgărit is a distinguished scholar in prehistoric archaeology, with particular expertise in experimental archaeology, personal adornments, and osseous industries. She is a Ph.D. supervisor and an accredited expert archaeologist registered in the National Register of Archaeologists in Romania. A prolific researcher, she has authored or co-authored over 100 scientific papers, six books, and edited four volumes. Her research is internationally recognized, particularly for her pioneering work in experimental archaeology and the microscopic analysis of prehistoric artefacts.
Professor Mărgărit is an active member of several prestigious professional associations, including the European Research Group Prehistoric Exploitation of Bone Materials in Europe (GDRE), the European Association of Archaeologists (EAA), and the Association of Archaeological Wear and Residue Analysts (AWRANA). She has led four major national research projects funded by the Romanian Ministry of Education and Research (CNCS-UEFISCDI) and a national grant awarded by the Romanian Academy. Her participation in over 90 national and international academic events, as well as the organization of three international scientific meetings, reflect her strong engagement in the scholarly community.

Târgoviște, Romania – September 13, 2024 – The HERITAGE GAME PROJECT, funded by the Erasmus+ Programme (Project No. 2023-1-PT01-KA220-HED-000154261), successfully concluded its second in-person meeting at Valahia University of Târgoviște. Taking place from September 11-13, 2024, the event brought together team members from seven institutions within the KreativEU European Universities Alliance: Adana Science and Technology University, Dimitar A. Tsenov Academy of Economics, Polytechnic University of Tomar, University of Camerino, University of South Bohemia, University of Trnava in Trnava, and the host, Valahia University of Târgoviște. The meeting was a key opportunity to advance the project’s objectives and enhance collaborative efforts among the participating universities.

Today was the opening of the international conference "Dynamics of Belonging: Exploring Home and Homeland in Scandinavia and the Baltic Sea Region." The event is organised by The Romanian Association for Baltic and Nordic Studies & Valahia University of Targoviste.

In her opening speech, Hon. Consul of Iceland Georgiana Pogonaru highlighted the unique cultural traits of Iceland. The conference provides a valuable platform to explore the various aspects of cultural identity, sustainability, connectivity, migration, security, education, innovation, and artistic expression across the regions of Scandinavia and the Baltic Sea.
