More than 700 of the teachers has a PhD degree. About 30 members of the Russian and foreign Academies of science are working at the University. Alferov who won the Nobel Prize in 2000. Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University provides education in 13 areas and 32 specialties. The University is comprised of 7 schools:

Top-notch fundamental and applied research of a broad spectrum is conducted at the University departments as well as at research centers and R&D institutes. The research staff includes more than 1000 members. ETU has agreements on cooperation with more than 30 universities in the United states, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Finland, the United Kingdom, France, China, Vietnam and other countries. Cooperation agreements include students and teachers exchnge, joint development of educational programs, joint scientific projects. More than 500 students from Europe, Asia, Africa study at ETU annually. Pre-university training is organized at ETU for international students. The University has close relations with the world known companies such as Motorola, Intel, Microsoft, AMD, Analog Devices, Parsytec, Infineon and others.Jointly with these companies, ETU established educational and research centers equipped with up-to-date facilities. Such links alsoserve the process of attracting young talanted people to scientific research and exploring modern technologies.
