Dear colleagues, students, and faculty!

On the eve of the 70th anniversary of our university, I want to say words that have long lived in my heart. About mentorship.

I am a graduate of LSMU myself — a pediatrician. When I remember my student years, what comes to mind is not only lectures and textbooks, but above all — the faces of those who led me by the hand into the profession. My teachers. They didn't just give lectures — they taught me to listen to the heart of a small patient, to feel the pain, to make decisions when every minute counts.

Mentorship is not just the transfer of knowledge. It is the transfer of the soul. It is when a professor stays with you after a complex clinical operation and explains every step. When a department head corrects your first scientific article on a day off.

We live in an era of digital technologies, simulation centers, and telemedicine. But no computer can replace a living example. A mentor is someone who sees your potential, advises you, guides you, and warns you against mistakes.

📌 WHAT 70 YEARS OF LSMU MEANS:
1. First and foremost — 70 years of teaching. Decades during which dozens of professors, associate professors, and assistants have passed from hand to hand, from heart to heart, the most important thing: love for medicine and devotion to the patient.

2. Thank you to our teachers — those who stood at the origins, those who continue to teach today, those who go to the classroom every morning to ignite the eyes of students, those who patiently explain details in the residents' room, those who spare no time for scientific guidance.

3. Because of you, our university graduates not just certified specialists, but true doctors.

4. Because of you, the traditions of LSMU live and grow.

5. Because of you, we look to the future with optimism.

Dear colleagues, students, and friends!

On June 4, 2026, our university hosted a literary evening titled "He is our poet, he is our glory!" — dedicated to the 227th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin.

Together with Vice-Rector S.V. Vitrishchak, I had the great pleasure of opening the event. I couldn't resist and read a few lines from "Ruslan and Ludmila." Pushkin is truly everything to us. His verses speak to the soul, they always resonate with talent, and the more time passes, the deeper we understand their greatness.

I was especially moved by the performances of our international students who are studying the Russian language. They recited Pushkin's poetry — and this became the best proof that great Russian poetry knows no borders. It unites people of different nationalities and different cultures around one genius.

📌 HIGHLIGHTS OF THE EVENING:
1. A special segment was dedicated to a meaningful connection for us: the friendship between Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin and Vladimir Ivanovich Dal — a lexicographer, writer, and… physician. It was Dal who stayed by the wounded poet's bedside in his final hours, listening to his complaints and recording his words.

2. This story is a powerful reminder of how closely medicine and literature, healing and compassion, are intertwined.

3. Students prepared reports, participated in a quiz based on Pushkin's fairy tales, and then completed an online test together.

4. The results confirmed that our students know and love Pushkin.

I extend my gratitude to the organizers — Valentina Fedorovna Zvyagina, the staff of the Department of Russian Language and Humanities, the staff of the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences, the library, and all the students who prepared this evening. Such meetings shape culture, nurture the soul, and make our university not only a forge of doctors but also a true center of enlightenment.

Dear colleagues, students, and parents!

On June 5, 2026, our university hosted a ceremonial awarding of professional certificates for "Junior Medical Nurse for Patient Care" and diplomas for graduates of the Pre-University School.

The event opened with the State Anthem of the Russian Federation. We watched a film titled "70 Years of LSMU" — dedicated to the anniversary of our Alma mater.

The youngest participants — students of Pre-University School No. 3 — were the first to receive their well-deserved awards. The children were presented with certificates of completion. On behalf of the graduates, Ksenia Smirnova spoke, thanking the teachers.

The highlight of the ceremony was the awarding of professional certificates in "Junior Medical Nurse for Patient Care."

📌 KEY DETAILS OF THE PROGRAM:
1. The course "General Care of Therapeutic Patients" was implemented by the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases, led by Professor L.N. Ivanova, M.D.

2. A total of 108 students successfully completed the training.

3. Over 80% of the participants received grades of "excellent" or "good."

4. The examination committee was chaired by Professor I.B. Ershova, M.D. , Head of the Department of Pediatrics and Childhood Infections.

5. All instructors and examiners are practicing clinicians — their experience and contribution to the students' education cannot be overstated.

A keynote address was given by Vice-Rector S.V. Vitrishchak. Additionally, Vikenty Radomsky — a former Pre-University student and now a first-year student in the General Medicine program — congratulated the graduates and shared his personal impressions.

I congratulate everyone who received their first professional document! This is only the beginning of the journey, but already a very important step. I am confident that the skills you have acquired will become a solid foundation for your future medical career. I wish you success in your studies, perseverance, and pride in your profession.

Dear students and colleagues!

Today, our university hosted an open dialogue titled "Achievements of the Republic." I am glad that we were able to be one of the venues for an honest conversation about the present and future of Luhansk region and all of Russia.

The event was organized by the Public Support Headquarters of "United Russia," the Russian Society "Znanie" (Knowledge), and our university, with the support of the People's Council and the Government of the LPR. Such meetings help shape the civic position of future doctors. It is important for us not only to heal but also to understand which country we live in and what history we are writing.

Our honorary guest was Denis Nikolaevich Miroshnichenko — Chairman of the People's Council of the LPR, Secretary of the Luhansk regional branch of "United Russia," and head of the regional branch of the Russian Society "Znanie."

Saint Luka Lugansk State Medical University was visited by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan

📢 On May 22, 2026, Lugansk State Medical University named after St. Luka of the Russian Ministry of Health was visited by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan – Rinat Nailievich Sadykov.

📢 The guest was welcomed by Vice-Rector for International Relations, Regional Development and Interaction with the Subjects of the Russian Federation S.V. Vitrishchak, who gave a tour of the university, presenting in detail its material, technical and infrastructural resources.

📢 During the visit, they explored:

➢ The Department of Human Anatomy, where they examined the dissection rooms and museum;
➢ The Department of Topographic Anatomy and Operative Surgery, where the head of the department, Professor V.N. Voloshin, demonstrated the classrooms and shared the department's history from its foundation to modern simulation technologies;
➢ The Lean Technologies Center, where head Associate Professor A.A. Alieva explained how lean principles are being implemented in the republic's healthcare system;
➢ The Accreditation and Simulation Center, where students of secondary and higher education, as well as practicing specialists, train and take their accreditation exams;
➢ The Pharmacy Studio, essential for practice-oriented training of pharmacists;
➢ The House of Books, where library director L.I. Stasik introduced all the reading rooms and presented the modern Testing Center.

📢 The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the university's material and technical base, assess conditions for training medical professionals, and explore opportunities for further cooperation.

📢 At the end of the meeting, Svitlana Valentynivna conveyed greetings from the university rector and presented memorable gifts with the university's branding. Rinat Nailievich left his feedback on the visit in the University's Book of Distinguished Guests.

PARTICIPATION IN A CONFERENCE

🔸 On May 21, 2026, the Scientific and Practical Conference with International Participation "Current Issues in Diagnosis, Treatment, and Prevention of Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases" kicked off. This event was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the founding of Saint Luka Lugansk State Medical University.

🔸 As part of the conference's Young Scientists section, Assistant of the Department of Faculty Therapy Yu.S. Zolotenina delivered a presentation on "Diagnosis and Correction of Cardiometabolic Disorders in Patients with Coronary Artery Disease Combined with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in the Post-COVID Period."

🔸 The sharing of cutting-edge data and interactive discussions allowed young scientists to learn about the latest trends and advances in medicine. The conference served as a platform for exchanging knowledge and experience among healthcare professionals.

Presentation at an International Conference

📚 On May 21–22, 2026, Professor K.A. Fomina presented a report at the plenary session of the XII Interregional Scientific and Practical Conference with International Participation "Achievements of Fundamental Sciences – The Basis for Innovative Development of Practical Medicine" in Astrakhan.

The conference program included over 40 reports by renowned scientists and more than 20 presentations by young researchers and students. Participants came from 16 regions of Russia and 4 foreign countries: the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the Republic of Serbia.

📚 The event brought together leading scientists and practicing physicians, who shared new research results in science and education, and highlighted the importance of fundamental disciplines in the development of practical healthcare.
