It was established in 1963. It is located in the city of Tyumen – the first Russian city of Siberia! At present there are more than 4000 students of the university. The academic activity is implemented by the faculty members of 62 Departments. The post-graduate training is carried out according to more than 50 medical specialties. Since 1963 util the present time more than 25 thousand specialists trained at the university. Almost all the head doctors of medical institutions, administrators in the sphere of Health Organization of the Tyumen and Kurgan Regions, as well as Khanty-Mansi and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Districts are the alumni of our university. There are research schools that were established and are now developing well. The schools are administrated by the scientists well-known in Russia and abroad. The university has the successful collaboration relations with research institutions of the USA, Germany, Kazakhstan, research institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), Siberian branch of RAS, research institutes and universities from Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, and other Russian cities.
