Orbital welders are automated machines used to weld pipes or tubes in a circular (orbital) motion around a fixed workpiece. They ensure high precision, consistency, and quality-making them essential in industries like aerospace, pharmaceuticals, and nuclear where clean, strong welds are critical. These systems can be adapted for any pipe size and significantly simplify the welding process, reducing manual effort while improving efficiency.

One of the significant moments in Middle Eastern history, the battle of al-Qadisiyyah in the seventh century, is remembered and it was a turning point in the military advancement of the Arabians. It had occurred near the medieval city of Qadisiyyah in Mesopotamia. As a consequence of the conflict, the alignment of forces on the global stage had shifted. The victory helped the Arabs to strengthen their force and move further north.

There were three main eras in the history of Arabian conquests. The first time the Arabians conquered parts of Byzantium and the great Persian state was during the battle of al-Qadisiyyah. The Battle of al-Qadisiyyah was a decisive battle in the conquest of the Persian state that encompassed modern Iran, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. At that point in history, it was one of the most influential forces on the global stage.

The battle was said to have lasted from 16 November to 19 November 636 CE and resulted in the annexation of most of Persia into the domains of the Rashidun Caliphate. This battle also resulted in the alleged alliance between the last Sassanid Emperor Yazdegerd III and the Roman (Byzantine) Emperor Heraclius.

RAMJET ENGINE
Introduction :-
The ramjet engine is an air breathing engine which operates on the same principle as the turbojet engine. Its basic operating cycle is
similar to that of the turbojet. It compresses the incoming air by ram pressure, adds the heat energy to velocity and produces thrust. By converting kinetic energy of the incoming air into pressure, the ramjet is able to operate without a mechanical compressor. Therefore the engine requires no moving parts and is mechanically the simplest type of jet engine which has been devised. Since it depends on the velocity of the incoming air for the needed compression, the ramjet will not operate statistically. For this reason it requires a turbojet or rocket assist to accelerate it to operating speed.

Ramjet Engine

At supersonic speeds the ramjet engine is capable of producing very high thrust with high efficiency. This characteristic makes it quite useful on high speed aircraft and missiles, where its great power and low weight make flight possible in regions where it would be impossible with any other power plant except the rocket. Ramjets have also been used at subsonic speeds where their low cost and light weight could be used to advantage.

Principle of Operation:
The ramjet consists of a diffuser, fuel injector, flame holder, combustion chamber and exit nozzle . The air taken in by the diffuser is compressed in two stages. The external compression takes place takes place because the bulk of the approaching engine forces the air to change its course. Further compression is accomplished in the diverging section of the ramjet diffuser. Fuel is injected into and mixed with air in the diffuser. The flame holder provides a low velocity region favourable to flame propagation, and the fuel-air mixture recirculates within this sheltered area and ignites the fresh charge as it passes the edge of the flame holder. The burning gases then pass through the combustion chamber, increasing in temperature and therefore in volume. Because the volume of air increases, it must speed up to get out of the way off the fresh charge following behind it, and a further increase in velocity occurs as the air is squeezed out through the exit nozzle. The thrust produced by the engine is proportional to this increase in velocity.

Working Principle of ramjet engine
Advantages
1. Ramjet is very simple and does not have any moving part. It is very cheap and requires almost no maintenance.
2. Since turbine is not used the maximum temperature which can be allowed in ramjet is very high, about 20000 C as compared to about 10000 C in turbojets. This allows a greater thrust to be obtained by burning fuel at A/F ratio of about 15.1 which gives higher temperatures.
3. The SFC is better than turbojet engines at high speed and high altitudes.
4. There seems to be no upper limit to the flight speed of the ramjet.
Disadvantages
1. Since the compression of air is obtained by virtue of its speed relative to the engine, the take-off thrust is zero and it is not possible to start a ramjet without an external launching device.
2. The engine heavily relies on the diffuser and it is very difficult to design a diffuser which will give good pressure recovery over a wide range of speeds.
3. Due to high air speed, the combustion chamber requires flame holder to stabilise the combustion.
4. At very high temperature of about 20000 C dissociation of products of combustion occurs which will reduce the efficiency of the plant if not recovered in nozzle during expansion.
Application:
Due to its high thrust at high operational speed, it is widely used in high speed aircrafts and missiles. Subsonic ramjets are used in target weapons, in conjunction with turbojets or rockets for getting the starting torque.

INTERVIEW QUESTIONS

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING JOB INTERVIEW QUESTIONS :-

1.) What is the direction of tangential acceleration ?
Ans:The direction of tangential acceleration may be same or opposite to that of angular velocity.

2.)Why excess air is required to burn a fuel completely ?
Ans: Excess air is required to ensure adequate mixing of fuel and air, avoid smoke, minimize slagging in coal burning, and to ensure maximum steam output.

3.)Which type of plant will you recommend for remote location if power is required in six to twelve months time ?
Ans: Diesel engine power plant.

4.)What do you understand by forced convection ?
Ans: When convection heat transfer occurs between a solid body and a fluid and where circulation of fluid is caused and controlled by some mechanical.

5.). What is Sentinel Relief Valve?
Ans. It’s a special type valve system. The valve will open when exhaust casing pressure is excessive (high). The valve warns the operator only; it is not intended to relieve the casing pressure.

6.)What is boundary layer thickness in turbulent boundary layer ?
Ans: In ease of turbulent boundary layer, boundary layer thickness is defined as the distance from solid surface at which the fluid velocity is 99% of the undisturbed free stream velocity.
Near the surface of solid, there is laminar flow which changes to buffer zone and finally turbulent region.

7.). Stirling cycle with regenerative arrangement and Carnot cycle operate within same temperature limits. What can be said about thermal efficiencies of these two ?
Ans: Thermal n of both will be same.

8.). What is the frequency of secondary imbalance in four-stroke engine ?
Ans: Two times the engine speed.

9.)What is the difference between Specification,Codes, Standards?
Ans. Specification is describing properties of any type of materials. Code is procedure of acceptance and rejection criteria. Standard is accepted values and compare other with it.

10.) What is difference between Welding and Brazing?
