The Faculty of Computer and Information Technology was established in 2002 and is a rapidly growing with outstanding national and international reputation in terms of its programs, students and faculty members. The Faculty strives to promote the circulation of technological knowledge to students and the community as to support the search of science as a career to students and preventative informa
tion measures to the community and all the industries, companies, telecommunication firms and also other different environments across the country. The faculty is made up of Six departments (Computer Science; Information Technology; Software Engineering; Information Management Systems; Accounting Management Systems; and Library Management Systems)
انشئت كلية علوم الحاسوب وتقانة المعلومات في يوم 25/6/2002م كإحدى كليات جامعة النيلين . وكانت فكرة إنشائها قد جاءت تعبيراً صادقاً عن اهتمام وزارة التعليم العالي بمجال الحاسوب والمعلومات مواكبة للطفرة الكبيرة في هذا المجال في جميع دول العالم فكان لابد من الاهتمام والتوجيه ، وتعد هذه الكلية تجسيداً لتوجيهات السيد/ مدير الجامعة بتوسيع نطاق هذا النوع من التعليم لتأهيل كوادر تقنية متخصصة قادرة على تلبية احتياجات الخطط التنموية الطموحة للدولة وبادراك تام لكل ذلك وتكاملاً مع جهود الدولة في التنمية والتطور وإنفاذا لقرار مجلس الوزراء رقم (134) بتاريخ 11/4/2002م أصدر رئيس مجلس الجامعة قراراً بإنشاء الكلية.
تضم الكلية 6 أقسام (علوم الحاسوب، تقنية المعلومات، هندسة البرمجيات، نظم المعلومات الإدارية، نظم المعلومات المحاسبية، نظم معلومات المكتبات)
