تم إنشاء كلية علوم المختبرات الطبية في العام 1997م كمدرسة تابعة لكلية العلوم والتقانة حيث تم قبول (36) طالباً وطالبة بالفرقة الأولى. ونظراً لبعض التعديلات الأكاديمية انتقلت المدرسة إلي كلية الطب في فبراير 2001 م. ثم بعد ذلك وفي نوفمبر عام 2002 م صدر القرار الإداري بإنشاء كلية للمختبرات الطبية والعلوم الحيوية تضم مدرسة المختبرات الطبية ومدرسة العلوم الحيوية ثم أصدر مدير جامعة النيلين قراراً بتاريخ

16/5/2002م لتكون كلية علوم المختبرات الطبية ككلية قائمة بذاتها على أن ترجع مدرسة العلوم الحيوية إلي كلية العلوم والتقانة كما كان سابقاً .
