يدعوكم مشروع مرسم للمشاركة في مشروع فني تشاركي يجمع الفنانين التشكيليين السودانيين المحترفين من مختلف أنحاء العالم.

سيتم اختيار عدد من الفنانين والفنانات لإنتاج عمل فني أصلي جديد مستوحى من السودان خلال الأشهر القادمة ضمن المشروع.

سيقوم كل فنان أو فنانة يتم اختيارهم بإنتاج عمل فني أصلي جديد، وسيحصل كل منهم على 800 يورو مقابل إنتاج هذا العمل ضمن المشروع.

🎨 OPEN CALL | Professional Sudanese Fine Artists

Marsam invites professional Sudanese fine artists from around the world to apply for a participatory art project.

Each selected artist will create one new original artwork inspired by Sudan over the coming months as part of the project.

Each selected artist will receive an artist fee of €800 for producing one original artwork as part of the project.

"Beyond the headlines: Sudan in context"
Tomorrow July 31 at Makerere Institute of Social Research (MISR) and online, a panel on contemporary moderated by Rebecca Glade.
> Drawing on this recent history and the political economy that these dynamics have established or maintained, this panel seeks to get beyond media headlines. It will address international discourses on Sudan and the ways that media coverage has framed the narrative of the war, then contextualize the war in Sudan's recent history. In the process, it will point to the ways that the war has been internationalized, with regional powers intervening directly and providing material support to the armed parties. It will also highlight the agency and activity of the Sudanese communities, who have mobilized to ensure community survival drawing on the organizing tactics and networks established since 2019.

يسرّ مركز الدراسات والوثائق الاقتصادية والقانونية والاجتماعية (CEDEJ) – الخرطوم أن يعلن عن فتح باب التقديم لثماني منح بحثية لدعم الباحثين السودانيين وطلبة الدراسات العليا (الماجستير والدكتوراه)، موزعة على النحو التالي:

أربع منح بحثية عامة لإجراء أبحاث حول السودان والشتات السوداني في مجالات العلوم الإنسانية والعلوم الاجتماعية.
أربع منح بحثية موضوعية لاستكشاف مصادر بديلة لكتابة التاريخ السوداني.

Working paper : “The Shadow War in : Digital Authoritarianism, Networked Propaganda, and Affective Polarization in the 2023–Present Conflict” by Osama Abuzaid, one of the recipients of the 2025 CEDEJ Khartoum Research Grant.
Sudan’s conflict reveals how fragmented digital authoritarianism can emerge through competing actors who use social media to spread propaganda, disinformation, and hate speech. Digital platforms and online influencers have intensified polarization and influenced public perceptions of the war, while weak governance and limited accountability have allowed these dynamics to persist. Lasting peace will therefore depend on rebuilding not only Sudan’s political institutions but also its digital information ecosystem.

The next CEDEJ-K seminar will take place on July 15, 2:00-4:00 pm, both in Cairo and online. We have the pleasure of welcoming Sara Hagalhassan (British Institute in Eastern Africa) who will discuss "The Spatiality and Everydayness of Wartime Khartoum."

Based on interviews with residents who remained in Khartoum during the first months of the war and feminist geographic approaches that position the home as a deeply political space, this talk examines domesticity as a key lens through which to analyse the lived experience of violence and destruction, exploring how warfare reconfigures everyday practices, social relations, and the materiality of dwelling.
