På kandidatnivå kan du utbilda dig till modedesigner, textildesigner, textilekonom, textilingenjör, textil produktutvecklare, designtekniker eller butikschef. Last week, eight students from four of the world’s highest-ranked design schools came together at the Swedish School of Textiles for an international residency. They were given one week to push the boundaries of what textile design can be and to explore how textiles can help address some of the greatest societal challenges of our time. Swipe to see a sneak peek of their visionary concepts.
 
The collection of concepts will be presented in an exhibition during Borås Textile Days, 4 November, before the Reformation Workshop concept continues on an international tour, with its first stop in Madrid.
 
The project is funded by the Paul Frankenius Foundation.

Borås Textile Days 2026 bjuder på ett program fullt av kunskap, inspiration och innovationer som formar framtidens textil och mode. Högskolan och Science Park Borås är med och arrangerar flera av programpunkterna. Swipea bland bilderna för att få koll på våra aktiviteter under dagarna.

Ett önskemål sedan över tio år tillbaka har uppfyllts på Textilhögskolan. Ett nytt svepelektronmikroskop är nu på plats. Det kan ta extremt detaljerade bilder som visar exakt hur ytan och formen ser ut på textilfibrer och andra material.

– Tidigare kunde vi med ett vanligt optiskt mikroskop bara få en bild av de textila fibrer som vi studerar ner till en mikrometer, därefter fick vi spekulera hur de såg ut. Med det nya elektronmikroskopet kan vi får bilder med en upplösning på ner till 100 nanometer, berättar Junchun Yu, docent på Institutionen för textilteknologi.

Detta betyder oerhört mycket för forskningen och utbildningen på Textilhögskolan. Till skillnad från konventionella elektronmikroskop, som mer eller mindre fyller ett helt rum och kräver en tekniker för att sköta det, så är det nya mikroskopet en desktop-modell, den är kompakt och står intill en dator och kan hanteras av en enda person.

Mikroskopet har kunnat köpas in tack vare bidrag från Sparbanken Sjuhärads Ägarstiftelse.

– Vi är oerhört tacksamma för att ha fått möjligheten att köpa in det, säger Junchun Yu.

A little glimpse into one of my weeks as an MA2 Textile Interaction Design student at the Swedish School of Textiles 🧵✨

1+2: Preparing weave bindings and seeing how the threads separate and interact in 3D 🧶
3+4: Making colour swatches 🎨 Testing different combinations and seeing what works best together.
5: Exploring different bindings and patterns for my project and seeing how they change the look and feel of the weave.
6+7: Weaving my designs on the Jacquard loom 🧵 It’s always exciting to see an idea come to life in fabric.
8: What I’m reading at the moment 📖 Interaction Design Foundations, Experiments by Lars Hallnäs and Johan Redström.
9: Fika time! ☕️ A coffee break at one of my favourite cafés in Borås, Bakgården. It’s close to the university, and they even have a student discount!
10: The bird graffiti outside the university 🦜 When I first visited Borås, I saw this bird and thought, “Maybe it’s time to spread my wings.” It feels so good to be here. That feeling has stayed with me and brought me here.
11: Autumn in Borås 🍂 Taking a break from uni, walking around and watching the colours of the leaves change every day.
12: Feeling grateful for a wonderful week at the university, full of learning, growth, meaningful moments, and new experiences. 🎓✨

One year in Borås!

When I first moved here, I had no idea how much I would learn from simply living and studying in a new place.

The changing seasons, the Swedish weather, discovering nature around the city, finding my routines at uni, and slowly making Borås feel familiar. It’s all become part of my everyday life.

A year later, here are a few things I’ve learned along the way 🤍
