Yesterday was a fun filled day. SI Dalarna local network organized a cultural diversity appreciation and Graduation Celebration. It was exciting to get to learn and appreciate each other’s culture. We were really enlightened. Finally something physical for a change☺️ It’s was all summer smiles, food, cultural awareness and games. 🥰🥰

SI-NFGL Dalarna invites participants for our next event – The art of Data Science with LabVIEW.
This event is organized in collaboration with SenseAir AB.
Objective of the workshop is to get some insights about current sustainable data acquisition and processing methods. With some fun practical tour on designing 3D models like solar system and beginners guide to programming in LabVIEW.

On 13th Oct 2016, SI NFGL DALARNA organized a two days’ study tour focussed on renewable energy. We were 8 NFGL members with 15 other participants.
Our study tour started with a visit to a 1 MW Scandinavia’s largest Sun tracking solar farm commissioned by Swedish company Kraftpojkarna (The power boys) for Swedish power company known as Mälarenergi.

This 1MW Solparken solar farm is located along a one kilometre stretch of the E18 highway between Västerås and Anyang in Sweden. It consists of 91 solar trackers, each 72 square meters. 36 solar panels are mounted on each tracker.

We were fortunate to have Magnus Hellberg (Chairman, Kraftpojkarna) as a guide for this visit.

Then we visited a 225 kWp roof top solar installation done by Stockholms Hamnar (Stockholms Harbour) at Frihamnen in Stockholm. The system consists of 885 solar panels with an estimated annual electricity production of around 200 000 kWh (annual consumption of nine average size houses). We were guided by Ulrika Persson, working as Sustainable engineer in Stockholms Hamnar.

On 14th Oct, we visited concentrated solar power lab at KTH university. We are obliged to professor Björn Laumert for organizing this study visit at KTH and providing us insights on CSP with detailed lab tour.

Finally we ended our trip with a visit to KTH Formula student team and their pioneering garage. We are thankful to Johan Westlund for briefing us about the KTH Formula student electric car.

This event was essentially very beneficial for us. It not only helped us in gaining technical course knowledge but also in understanding various social aspects, Swedish laws & regulations, project management and importantly making our network stronger.

We feel very grateful to the Swedish Institute for giving us the opportunity to change our world, maybe not on a great scale, for now, but by making small changes in our surroundings, and on the people with whom we live.

They say changes are good, and we absolutely agree with this opinion, you would never know what you can reach if you never try. The first step is always the most difficult. Somehow the Swedish Institute is helping us to make this positive changes easier, and thereby also developing our potential to become leaders and to help others.

It’s impressive how SI is contributing to help the world by recruiting people from many different countries from all around the world, this is a life-changing experience. We feel very proud of being part of this great community and we would like to thank them again, for making this possible.
