🤖🌱 How do we inspire the next generation to explore technology, science and AI?

That was one of the key questions in focus when the University of Gävle, together with several partners, hosted a STEM and AI Day on campus.

The event brought together representatives from education, research, industry, the public sector and civil society to discuss how we can work together to strengthen Sweden’s future competence in technology and artificial intelligence.

Visitors also had the opportunity to explore several exciting initiatives and environments, including the AI Perspectives Room, the Twin Transition Lab and an AI-based learning platform for children and young people.

We are proud to contribute to creating a continuous pathway from early education to higher education and working life – and, together with our partners, inspire more young people to discover the opportunities within STEM and AI.

On Walpurgis Night, spring is traditionally celebrated at Stora Vall in Kungsbäck – and this year our new Vice-Chancellor, Anders Kottorp, will deliver his very first spring speech. 🌿

“It feels both exciting and a bit challenging. I’ve looked at previous speeches to get a sense of the tradition, but of course I also want to add my own touch.”

We hope to see you this evening! In addition to the Vice-Chancellor, Gefle Student Union President Algot Brolin will also be speaking. 🎤🔥

Welcome to celebrate Walpurgis with us at Stora Vall!

On Walpurgis Night, traditional celebrations are held at Stora Vall in Kungsbäck. This year also marks the first time that Anders Kottorp, the new vice-chancellor of the University of Gävle, will deliver the spring address.

Changed Opening Hours ☀️🌱

On Walpurgis Eve (April 30), the Infocenter and the library desk will close at 12:00 PM. The library premises will remain open until 8:00 PM as usual. On May 1, both the library and Infocenter will be closed.

Remember to bring your HiG card if you plan to study on campus.

🌍 Study abroad – without being away for a full semester

Would you like to gain international experience but feel that spending a whole semester abroad is a bit too long? A BIP course within EU GREEN European Alliance might be the perfect option for you.

A BIP (Blended Intensive Programme) combines online learning with a short on-site experience in another European country – usually about a week. You study together with students from several European universities, collaborate in international teams and gain new perspectives on both your studies and your future career.

During the course you will have the opportunity to:
✨ develop your subject knowledge
🌍 meet students from across Europe
🤝 build international connections
🚄 experience a new city and culture

Short course. Big experience.

Now you can, among other things, apply for the course: “Sustainable Inclusion and Well-Being in Schools: Adapted Movement, Narrative and Creative Arts Approaches” – application deadline July 10.

April 13 is the last day to sign up for Get Active 2026 – a step challenge where students and staff at the University of Gävle take part alongside seven other European universities within the EU GREEN European Alliance.🌍

Last year, we achieved an impressive second place. 💪
This year, we’re going for the win – but we need even more of you to join!

👉 Participate individually or in a team (up to 5 people)
