CERGU - Centre for European Research at the University of Gothenburg CERGU is a multidisciplinary research centre focusing on European issues, located at the University of Gothenburg.

The Centre for European Research at University of Gothenburg (CERGU) was established in 1995. Its main aim is to stimulate multidisciplinary research and studies focusing on European issues. CERGU is a network for researchers within different academic disciplines at the University of Gothenburg and for researchers at universities and institutes in Sweden and abroad. Conferences, seminars and works

hops constitute some of the CERGU core activities. CERGU also acts as host for multidisciplinary research projects.

Den 9 maj firas Europadagen. Med anledning av det har vi talat med Markus Johansson om regelefterlevnad och samarbete i EU. Han är forskare i statsvetenskap och menar att Viktor Orbáns valförlust tidigare i vår kan få viss betydelse för EU:s beslutsfattande.

– Oavsett vilken inriktning den nya regeringen tar innebär maktskiftet i Ungern att EU:s kanske främsta enfant terrible är borta, vilket kan öppna för en mer samarbetsinriktad relation mellan EU och Ungern. Samtidigt är Ungern en relativt liten aktör i EU:s dagliga förhandlingar. Många beslut fattas med kvalificerad majoritet, vilket innebär att större medlemsstater ofta har större inflytande än små och medelstora länder, säger han.

Report Launch: The MAGnituDE research group will be launching their newest report in one week.

Olga Sasunkevich, Andrea Spehar, and Oksana Shmulyar-Gréen are CERGU researchers active in MAGnituDe: Migration, Affective Geopolitics, and European Democracy in Times of Military Conflicts, funded by Horizon Europe.

The launch is scheduled for February 5th, 9:00–11:00, on the topic: Labour Market, Education, and Housing under Temporary Protection: A Comparative Report from the Baltic Sea Region.
