Congratulations to Jennifer Chepkorir who on March 26th successfully defended her doctoral thesis entitled “Regularization methods for solving the Cauchy problems for elliptic and degenerate elliptic equations” at Department of Mathematics, Linköping University. Jennifer has been supervised by Vladimir Kozlov together with co-supervisor Fredrik Berntsson.

Jennifer’s studies were made possible by the support from Sida - Styrelsen för Internationellt Utvecklingssamarbete and coordinated by International Science Programme.

Congratulations to Pauline Achieng who on December 8th successfully defended her doctoral thesis entitled "Reconstruction of solutions of Cauchy problems for elliptic equations in bounded and unbounded domains using iterative regularization methods" at Department of Mathematics, Linköping University. Pauline has been supervised by Vladimir Kozlov together with co-supervisor Fredrik Berntsson.

Today we congratulate Emelyne Gasana Umunoza from Department of Mathematics, University of Rwanda who successfully defended her PhD thesis with the title ‘An Edgeworth-type Expansion of the Distribution of a Likelihood-based Classifier for Single Time-point Measurements and Growth Curves’ at Department of Mathematics, Linköping University. Emelyne has been supervised by Martin Singull and Dietrich von Rosen. Great achievement for the subprogramme ‘Strengthening Research Capacity in Mathematics, Statistics and Their Applications’.

Today we continue the celebration! Congratulations to Kwalo Ilwale from University of Zambia who successfully defended his PhD thesis ‘Noncommutative Riemannian Geometry of Twisted Derivations’ at Department of Mathematics, Linköping University.

Happy news – today Denise Uwamariya from Department of Mathematics, University of Rwanda successfully defended her PhD thesis ‘Large deviations of condition numbers and extremal eigenvalues of random matrices’ at Department of Mathematics, Linköping University. Denise has been supervised by Xiangfeng Yang together with co-supervisors Martin Singull and Dietrich von Rosen. Great achievement for the subprogramme ‘Strengthening Research Capacity in Mathematics, Statistics and Their Applications’. Huge congratulations to Dr Uwamariya, very well done!

Yesterday he met with Prof Sam Yala, Centre President, Prof Blaise Tchapnda, Academic Director and Dr Isambi Sailon Mbalawata, Research and Scientific Development Manager, at AIMS Rwanda (African Institute for Mathematical Sciences’s Rwanda node) to discuss different possible cooperation, e.g. math competitions.
