Students for Interdisciplinary Dialogue

Students for Interdisciplinary Dialogue As a student organization, we will work to promote fruitful and inclusive group dialogue and communication skills at the various university levels.

We believe this is essential in creating a strong foundation for interdisciplinarity at the university. 1) Provide lectures to students, faculties, and organizations about the importance of communication in groups and the relevance of different participatory methods in creating effective interaction and communication

2) Run stimulating and active sessions on:
• Learning how to implement and facil

itate different participatory methods (i.e. through classroom sessions and sessions designed for faculty)
• Learning about and reflecting upon specific interdisciplinary topics (i.e social ecological systems, urban planning, human legacy)
• Assisting students in being empowered with the various projects that they want to implement

3) Facilitate meetings for various student activities, student unions, and faculties

4) Educate and train the members of Students for Interdisciplinary Dialogue about various facilitation and participatory methods in order to update and sharpen our knowledge and skills (i.e. attending conferences and training workshops)

5) Create a legacy for our group by:
• Reaching out to find new enthusiastic members who can continue SID
• Publishing a paper/article on our work and the relevance

SID spirit is alive and kicking! Two days ago I facilitated a full-day discussion session at the round table of disabled sports in Estonia. A little world cafe, a little open space... you know how it goes!

It was precious to see a guy who has several fitness clubs and a guy in wheelchair talking casually how he actually goes about strapping himself to a workout machine because he doesn't have the muscles to keep him otherwise in balance. The fitness club guy was like "ahaa, so that's how it goes?! Well I never...".
And the whole day went on in good spirit.

Keep it up, guys!
