🌍 Welcome to the Faculty of Medicine, Lund University! 💙

This week, we were delighted to welcome 12 international students during our Arrival Week!

The group includes 9 medical students and 3 biomedical students from universities in Grenoble, Heidelberg, Madrid, Ukraine, Bergen, Utrecht and Dublin. 🇫🇷🇩🇪🇪🇸🇺🇦🇳🇴🇳🇱🇮🇪

During the welcome session, we talked about practical matters for their stay, Swedish culture and hygiene regulations in Swedish healthcare. The students are excited and curious to experience healthcare and student life in Sweden! 🇸🇪

The Medical University of Graz has opened a call for applications for PhD positions in the field of molecular medicine, translational research, immunology, medical genetics, cancer research and pulmonary diseases.

LEARNING THROUGH EXCHANGE: Helena’s Paediatrics Placement in Lund

Helena is a medical student from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile currently undertaking her Paediatrics placement in Lund, Sweden. She describes her experience as extremely positive and highlights the inclusive and supportive atmosphere on the ward.

She particularly appreciates the relaxed learning environment, where teaching is based on collaboration rather than formal questioning. Instead of being tested on knowledge, she is encouraged to participate in clinical work and learn through teamwork, which she finds both reassuring and highly educational.

Helena has also been struck by the way healthcare professionals interact with children, noting that there is a greater emphasis on play and engagement with young patients in the clinical setting than she has experienced before.

Outside of the hospital, she has enjoyed experiencing Swedish culture, especially the food and traditions, and she took part in celebrating Midsummer, which she describes as a memorable experience.

Helena says that coming to Sweden was one of the best career decisions she has made. She feels she is growing both professionally and personally during her placement and believes the environment helps her potential become more visible. Thank you for visiting us, Helena!

I sommar är studenter från barnmorske-, fysioterapeut- och sjuksköterskeprogrammen ute på klinisk praktik runt om i världen genom vår internationella sommarkurs.

Under praktikperioden får de möta nya hälso- och sjukvårdssystem, utveckla sina kliniska färdigheter, ta del av andra arbetssätt och skapa minnen och erfarenheter som de kommer att bära med sig långt efter avslutade studier.

Följ våra studenter i deras spännande vardag och ta del av deras upplevelser, utmaningar och äventyr från olika delar av världen!

✨ Vad händer när medicin möter humaniora? Under ett par inspirerande junidagar samlades studenter från s*x universitet inom U21-nätverket för att utforska just detta genom temat ”Humanities in medicine”.

Det blev två härligt intensiva dagar fyllda av nya perspektiv, engagerade diskussioner, grupparbete, fina presentationer – och såklart många skratt! 💬 Efter en halvdag med föreläsningar fick studenterna arbeta tillsammans med olika case, och dag två rundades av med riktigt imponerande presentationer. Stort tack till alla arrangörer, föreläsare och studenter som bidrog med energi, nyfikenhet och engagemang. Och ett extra stort tack till våra egna studenter Ida, Rebecka, Liv, Elin, Mathilde och Misbah – så roligt att ni var med och gjorde dagarna ännu bättre! 🌟

European Network on Climate & Health Education (ENCHE) söker en Student Fellow för ett 12-månaders uppdrag med fokus på studentengagemang och utveckling av programmet Agent of Change.
Uppdraget omfattar cirka 16 timmar per månad, totalt omkring 200 timmar.

From Scotland to Sweden – a truly transformative elective experience ✨

We are proud to highlight the inspiring journey of Thomas Zhang, a medical student from the University of Edinburgh, who recently completed his elective at Växjö Hospital through Lund University, Faculty of Medicine.

During his placement, Thomas rotated through neurology, pathology, primary care, and laboratory medicine, actively participating in both clinical work and academic projects. He was also involved in teaching, where he shared perspectives from his training in the UK and contributed to valuable academic exchange between Växjö and Edinburgh.

He reflects:
“My elective taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of human connection in healthcare.”

We are very grateful to have hosted Thomas and proud to support an environment where international students can learn, contribute, and grow.

Lecture with Visiting Professor Robert Cramer, University of North Carolina at Charlotte

ReLife Centre - Centre for Mental Health and Recovery Across the Life Course - is pleased to welcome Visiting Professor, Robert Cramer, whose research focuses on su***de prevention, violence and hate crime prevention, and LGBTQ+ health.
His work combines basic and applied research, with current projects including a clinical trial on Group Brief Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Su***de and the international development of su***de prevention training models.
During his time at Lund University, he will support the development of the ReLife Centre and collaborate on new su***de prevention research and training initiatives for healthcare professionals and other target groups.
