HEAD OF DATA AND INSIGHTS
The Head of Data and Insights supports the development and implementation of the Maritime Observatory through advanced data science, analytics coordination, and production of technical outputs; and leads the technical operation of the observatory under the guidance of the Vice President (Strategic Initiatives).

PROGRAMME OFFICER - STRATEGIC INITIATIVES (AFRICA)
The Programme Officer – Strategic Initiatives (Africa) is responsible for the implementation of assigned WMU initiatives related to Africa within the framework of the WMU–LRF strategic partnership and other institutional programmes.

If you’re seafarer, shipping company, port authority, fuel provider, or maritime administration, we need your insights!

WMU and CEDRE, with support from the European Maritime Safety Agency, are conducting a study to provide a comprehensive analysis of diesel-like biofuels including FT biodiesel, HVO and FAME as marine pollutants and the response measures for their accidental releases.

WMU was honored to welcome Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado. The official visit reflects the long-standing partnership between Japan and WMU and a shared commitment to advancing maritime education, capacity development, and sustainable ocean governance.

A highlight of the visit was an address by Her Imperial Highness to WMU faculty, staff and students. The visit also included presentations on WMU’s academic and research activities as well as a visit to the WMU-Sasakawa Global Ocean Institute, generously supported by the Nippon Foundation of Japan.

We extend our sincere thanks to Her Imperial Highness, the Embassy of Japan in Sweden, the Sasakawa Peace Foundation and all participants who contributed to this memorable occasion.

The World Maritime University was honoured to welcome Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado. The official visit reflects the long-standing partnership between Japan and WMU, and a shared commitment to advancing global maritime education, capacity development, and sustainable ocean governance.

A highlight of the visit was an address by Her Imperial Highness to WMU faculty, staff, and students in the University's Sasakawa Auditorium, followed by an interactive session with students. The official programme also included presentations on WMU's academic and research activities, as well as a visit to the WMU-Sasakawa Global Ocean Institute, which is generously supported by The Nippon Foundation of Japan.
