The lake's ice has nearly vanished following the fierce storm, resulting in some damage to our docks. It is very bumpy on the lake.

Foggy day for sampling! Ice was 27cm thick but we couldn't see the other side of the lake!

SITES Water and AquaNet technical workshop was held at Erkenlaboratoriet this week. The ice-covered lake offered a nice opportunity for a hands on snow and ice measurement demonstration.

Beautiful winter morning at Erkenlaboratoriet! The temperature went down to -16 °C and the ice is starting to cover the lake which is really early for Erken ❄

🌊 Uppsala University's Erkenlaboratory Joins Smart Lagoon! 🌱🌍
Exciting news! The researchers at Uppsala University's Erkenlaboratory are actively involved in the Smart Lagoon project, funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 program. This initiative focuses on studying the socio-environmental interrelationships in coastal lagoons, increasing awareness of environmental impacts.

Smart Lagoon project aims to monitor the Mar Menor lagoon in Murcia, Spain, predicting socio-environmental changes in highly anthropized coastal lagoons. Our researchers have made significant contributions, including the development and deployment of an innovative monitoring buoy in the Mar Menor. It provides compatible data for parallel modeling activities at both sites, Erken and Mar Menor, building a comprehensive understanding of environmental processes.
