On Linnaeus University’s social media accounts, we write about current events at the university, with focus on education and research. We are happy to have a dialogue with our followers and, therefore, welcome comments and contributions to knowledge and

discussion. However, in order to create a pleasant atmosphere where as many as possible want to contribute to the dialogue, we have commenting rules that everyone must follow. To keep in mind:
- Use a good tone and respectful language.
- Show respect for other people.
- Claims need to be based on science.
- Discussions must be relevant and stick to the subject matter of the post.
- If the same comment occurs several times in the feed this will be considered spam and all comments – including the original comment – will be deleted.
- Comments are written in your own name and both first name and last name of the user must be evident.
- Comments that break the law or contain unlawful content will be reported to the police.
- Individuals who repeatedly break the regulations will be blocked. The following will be removed by moderator:
- Irrelevant comments.
- Offensive, scornful or insulting comments.
- Personal attacks and ridicule.
- False or obviously incorrect information.
- Comments with links to pages where it is not immediately clear what the content of the link is.
- Photos or videos where we cannot assess whether the user has the copyright for the material.

🇸🇪✨ One year, a thousand new experiences
From my first international flight and arriving alone, to my first snowfall, forest visits, new friendships, flying a drone, travelling to Ireland, and countless new experiences, this year has been a journey of learning, exploring, and growing.

Being an international student at Linnaeus University has given me so much more than a degree. It has given me experiences I will carry with me for a lifetime.

One year down, many more memories to make. 🌲🎓

Do you have a disability and need support in your studies? As a student at Linnaeus University, you can receive educational support to help create more equal study conditions.

Examples of support:
✔️ Adapted examinations (such as extra time or the option to use a computer)
✔️ Digital note-taking support
✔️ Mentoring support – help with structure and planning
✔️ Sign language or written interpretation

Information sessions about targeted educational support:

The sessions will include coordinators, staff from Student Health Services, and academic writing tutors. No registration is required.

What happens when researchers can no longer ask the questions they need to ask?

After many years as an archaeologist and researcher in the United States, Marcia Rockman is now continuing her work at Linnaeus University in Sweden.

Her research explores the connections between climate change and cultural heritage – and how knowledge of the past can help us understand and respond to the challenges of today.

Changes in US research policy affected the conditions for pursuing this work. At Linnaeus University, she is able to continue developing her research in an international academic environment where curiosity, critical thinking and academic freedom are fundamental.

In this film, Marcia shares her research, her journey to Sweden and why the freedom to explore difficult questions matters.

The Student Welfare Office is available to all students at Linnaeus University, free of charge. Our mission is to promote student wellbeing by offering both individual support and preventive initiatives.

As a student or doctoral student, you can receive:
✔️ Professional counselling for issues such as stress, low mood, or lack of study motivation
✔️ Workshops and courses on topics including public speaking anxiety, procrastination, and stress management
✔️ Support with challenges related to group work and collaboration
✔️ Mental Health First Aid courses

Moving to Sweden for your studies?
Some of the most useful things to prepare are not things you buy the day before you travel.
Make sure you have your passport, residence permit card or visa documents if needed, insurance documents and accommodation details. It is also a good idea to save digital copies of key documents and important contact information.
If you take prescribed medication, check the rules before travelling and bring the prescription or documentation you may need.
A bank card that works internationally, a power adapter suitable for use in Sweden, comfortable shoes, a small backpack and clothes you can layer are also useful basics for your first weeks in Sweden.
Check what is included in your accommodation before packing items such as bed linen or towels. You may also want to bring a small comfort item from home.
You do not need to bring everything. But bringing the right essentials can make your arrival and first weeks in Sweden much smoother.
