In 1974, a young man named Ulf, “Uffe”, walked through the doors of Stafsjö. Today, after more than 48 years at Stafsjö, Uffe has chosen to make his final day and retire.
In 1974, at just 14 years old, Uffe started working here by mowing the lawns. A few years later, in 1978, he became a full-time employee in production and started working with drilling machines.
The story goes that our Technical Manager Oskar’s grandfather, who was also working at Stafsjö at the time, asked the young man mowing the lawns what kind of school he was planning to attend.
“Mechanical workshop.” Uffe replied.
“Good. Then you have a job.”
And that was that.
Uffe went to school, returned to Stafsjö after graduating, and later completed his first NC machining course before moving into machine operations. Over the years, he continued developing his skills through training for Mazak and UP machines. But Uffe’s story at Stafsjö is about much more than machines and technical knowledge.
It is about five generations of one family.
Uffe is the fourth generation of his family to work at Stafsjö, following his great-grandfather, grandfather and grandmother, and father. Today, the fifth generation is already here, with his son working in the assembly team.
After 48 years, countless machines, colleagues, projects, and memories, Uffe is now leaving Stafsjö, but the heritage he leaves behind will remain.
Thank you Uffe, for all the years of dedication, craftsmanship and an enormous contribution to Stafsjö. Today, we celebrate you and everything you have been a part of. Now it is time for a new chapter.
