🎉 June Highlights from CIVIS 🎉
This month is a special one for CIVIS Alliance as we celebrate seven years of shared impact, collaboration and ambition.
As we reflect on how far we have come, our member universities continue to drive research, innovation and sustainability across Europe.
A major genetic study co-led by researchers from the Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen is reshaping our understanding of Early Medieval Europe and the people who lived through a transformative period in the continent’s history.
At the Universitatea din București, Dr Cristian Ciobanu has been elected Vice-Coordinator of the European Geoparks Network, marking the first time Romania has held an executive leadership position within this continental network.
Sustainability is also in the spotlight. The Universität Salzburg’s “Veggie Month” campaign has been nominated for the Sustainability Award 2026, while the Université de Lausanne is bringing together its research community to define a roadmap for sustainable research by 2037.
You will also discover Belgium’s first inter-university NGO, launched by ULB, ULiège and UMONS, as well as fascinating new findings from Stockholm University showing how migratory birds develop distinct song dialects.
