What’s up @ the central bank in these strange times?

Peter Wallin from the Swedish central bank (Riksbanken) was very appreciated when he visited us last year. We have invited him again, this time to talk about how central banks (with focus on Riksbanken) have responded to the corona crisis. Hear first-hand how work at the central bank has changed due to the corona crisis in this digital lecture!

What is it like to work for a government authority? How is government spending being monitored? ✨

The Economics Society is delighted to invite SASSE members to our last lunch lecture of the semester. We are finishing off with a visit from the Swedish National Financial Management Authority (ESV), an independent body that monitors government spending and operates under the Ministry of Finance.

This time two lectures will take to the stage to give the audience an overlook over ESV’s work. Mathias Lemdal works at the department for analysis and forecasts, which produces four forecasts for government spending every year. Ellen works for the department for accounting and financing. The department helps oversee government finances and conducts research on the request of the government. This exciting lecture will give us an insight into the ESV’s work as well as and idea what it is like to work for the government.

In this exciting lecture we have invited an expert on welfare economics to explore some of the most complex issues in economics. What does an efficient welfare state look like? Is a society where income is unevenly distributed more fair than a society where it is? Those are only some of the questions that Andreas Bergh explores in his exciting research. Sign-ups open today at 12:00!

On the 29th of October it is finally time for our second lecturer to take to the stage. The Economics Society is delighted to invite SASSE members to an exciting lunch lecture with Andreas Bergh, who is a professor of Economics at Lund University and fellow at the Research Institute of Industrial Economics (IFN).

Andreas Bergh’s research concerns exciting topics such as the welfare state, institutions, development, globalization, trust and social norms. His articles have been published in leading journals like European Economic Review, World Development and European Sociological Review. Join us on the 29th of October and learn more about Andreas’ research, and explore some of the most complex and interesting topics in economics!
