KTH ranked second-best university in Sweden and 82nd in world in the 2027 QS World University Ranking 🥳🔥🏫

Once again, MIT ranks highest in the world, whilst Imperial College London takes first place in Europe. KTH is the 11th best university in the European Union and ranks 27th in Europe.

The QS World University Rankings are issued each June, providing students worldwide with an evaluation of leading universities. 1,504 universities were rated according to numerous weighted metrics, or indicators, among them: academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty-student ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty ratio and international student ratio.

We are proud to inaugurate the portrait of this year’s KTH Alum of the Year recipients, Bolle Tham and Martin Videgård, in the KTH Library.

The founders of ThamVidegård Architects are being recognised for their significant and long-standing contributions to Swedish and international architecture. Through visionary and award-winning projects, they have demonstrated how architecture can combine innovation, sustainability, and respect for place and history.

Both KTH alumni, Bolle Tham and Martin Videgård have shaped some of Sweden’s most acclaimed contemporary buildings, including the KTH School of Architecture. Their work continues to inspire future generations of architects and contribute to the development of society through outstanding design and architectural integrity.

Congratulations to Bolle Tham and Martin Videgård on this well-deserved recognition as KTH Alum of the Year 2026. 🎉

This is KTH’s newest race car. And it was built by students.

This week, KTH Formula Student unveiled its 20th car – the result of thousands of hours of engineering, programming, and teamwork. And quite a few late nights.

Formula Student is the world’s largest engineering competition for students, where university teams from around the globe design and build their own race cars and compete against one another.

This summer, the KTH students will represent Sweden in competitions in the Czech Republic.

And how do they manage to balance all of this with their studies?

“This is what I do. I study on the side,” says team leader Albin Eriksson.

Good luck this summer!

🏆 The visionary architectural duo Bolle Tham and Martin Videgård have been awarded KTH Alum of the Year 2026. For nearly three decades, their acclaimed buildings have touched people and influenced society in Sweden and abroad.

Now they want to help strengthen the role of architects in construction projects, and offer advice on how to approach AI, both professionally and as creators.

“I believe in a synergy between digital tools and personal analysis and intuition. With enough experience and knowledge, you can collaborate with AI rather than be controlled”, says Bolle Tham.

This weekend, the Quarnevalen parade rolled through the streets of Stockholm, featuring everything from a giant rubber duck and a massive glass of beer to a full-sized pirate ship.

The large-scale student event is organized by students at KTH Royal Institute of Technology and takes place every third year in May, drawing thousands of curious spectators. The imaginative parade vehicles are designed and built by students from across Stockholm.
