Hej alla!

Nu är det dags att ladda ner en ny app ”Runstenar”!

Appen finns att hitta på Google play och på App store om ni söker på ”runstenar”. Ni kan också hitta med hjälp av dessa länkar och qr-koder.

För tillfället innehåller appen alla runstenar som är tillgängliga i Svealand och Norrland. Götaland kommer under hösten 2024!

Runinskrifter i appen är översatta till svenska och engelska, men övrig information om stenar finns bara på svenska. Det kommer en separat englesk version av appen inom kort.

Projektet leds av Sofia Pereswetoff-Morath (Stockholms universitet) och utförs av apputvecklaren Umami Produktion (Hi-Story).

The replica of the Kilbar runestone Sc 8 from Scotland has now arrived to its owner!

The inscription runs in three rows on the back side of the stone and says: “In memory of Þorgerðr, Steinarr’s daughter(?), this cross is raised…
By the way, you can read more about this stone and all other runic inscriptions from Scotland, Orkney, Shetland and England in the Michael P. Barnes’ and R. I. Pages’ great volume “The Scandinavian Runic Inscriptions of Britain”.

As of 1 April 2021, Henrik Williams is Uppsala University's new chair in Runology. This was celebrated a week ago with a digital celebration and a lecture by Henrik entitled “From Rök to the Mustang Mountains – The Challenges of Runology”.

Today is Henrik Williams' first day as Professor of runology

Henrik is the second Professor of runology ever in Sweden and the only current one in the world as far as we know.

We celebrate the occasion with the long-awaited publication of the proceedings of the Eighth International Symposium on Runes and Runic Inscriptions 2014 in Nyköping. The volume is available for free at https://www.nordiska.uu.se/research/series/runron/.

As of today, Henrik Williams is Uppsala University's first Professor of runology.
