At the Department of English, we are dedicated to teaching and researching the English language and its literatures. We offer a stimulating learning environment, and a wide range of courses taught by highly qualified scholars, at the
undergraduate, master and doctoral levels. At the Department, students, teachers and researchers from a number of different disciplines enjoy both personal and scholarly exchange. Their curiosity, commitment, and diverse driving forces
contribute to the high quality education of the Department. The English Department at Uppsala University is located at The English Park Campus - Centre for the Humanities, alongside dozens of other university departments. This close proximity to researchers and students from other disciplines creates a dynamic and productive learning environment. Every term about 500 students enroll in our courses. The national applications portal, antagning.se, opens today and will be open until 15 April. Welcome to apply to any of the courses and programmes offered by The Department of English:

-About 60 freestanding courses in English, Celtic and North American studies (ca 40 with spring intake)
-A Bachelor's Programme in Global English Studies (both autumn and spring intake)
-An International Master's Programme in English with the specializations English Linguistics, English Literature and American Literature and Culture (autumn intake only, but interested students are recommended to start preparing early)
-We also participate in the university's teacher training programmes focusing on primary and secondary school.

The Department of English offers a large number of courses in English, Celtic studies and American studies. We also offer a Bachelor's programme in global English studies as well as a Master's programme in English.
