Nanexa är ett högteknologiskt forskningsföretag som grundades 2007 av forskare från Uppsala universitet med kompetens inom tvärvetenskapliga utvecklingsområden som t ex life science och nanoteknologi. Företaget har sedan grundandet fokuserat sin verksamhet allt mer mot life science och särskilt system för drug delivery där Nanexa tagit fram en helt ny plattform som man kallar för PharmaShell®. niken som utvecklats skapar helt nya förutsättningar i läkemedelsformuleringar och frisättning av läkemedel och bedömningen är att potentialen är stor inom dessa områden. De stora läkemedelsbolagen letar efter nanoteknologiskt inriktade drug delivery-plattformar och har även börjat köpa in sådana i som befinner sig i tidiga utvecklingsskeden. På denna marknad har Nanexa som målsättning att få till stånd ett antal licensavtal med ledande läkemedelsbolag avseende PharmaShell®.

We are pleased to announce 1st patient in to the third and final dose group in our Phase 1 study of NEX-22 for Type 2 Diabetes trialling our long-acting, controlled-release injectable formulation of liraglutide formulated with our PharmaShell® technology. Preliminary data from the first two dose groups shows that PharmaShell® technology enables a controlled and prolonged release of liraglutide, with an increase in plasma concentration proportional to dose. We are delighted to announce EMA approval for our NEX-22 clinical trial of a long-acting injectable formulation of diabetes drug liraglutide using our unique PharmaShell® system. The goal is to create a once-a-month only injectable treatment for Type 2 diabetes, increasing compliance and reducing costs. CEO David Westberg-“patients are asking for products with less frequent dosing, and we’re seeing big pharma companies express the same interest. NEX-22 replaces daily injections of Victoza with just one NEX-22 injection per month.
