Meet Dhaniz from NUS Business School, who spent last summer at Universitas Gadjah Mada in Indonesia. 🇮🇩 🛫

Indonesia is one of the world's most diverse coffee producers, and for Dhaniz, it was the perfect place to learn about coffee production firsthand. Through the summer programme, he explored the challenges and opportunities facing tropical agriculture and went hands-on at local plantations and factories.☕

Thank you, Dhaniz, for giving us a glimpse into your summer in Indonesia! 🌤️

Meet Acton from NUS College of Design and Engineering, who spent last summer at 연세대학교 - Yonsei University in South Korea. 🇰🇷 🛫

South Korea had always been on Acton's travel bucket list—and what better way to finally check that off the list than studying Business at one of Seoul's top universities, while soaking in everything the country has to offer? ✨

Choosing Yonsei was the easy part. But the fear of not making friends almost held him back. What pushed him through was getting clear on his why, and he put it best himself: "Know your goal before going on a summer programme. If you want to improve yourself by being more extroverted, go for it. No one is going to judge you since most people are trying their best to socialise too."

Thank you, Acton, for sharing what happens when you take a leap of faith.⛅

Meet Amelia from NUS Business School, National University of Singapore, who spent last summer at Waseda University in Japan. 🇯🇵 🛫

The Waseda Summer Session gave her the full Japanese university experience—and no two days looked the same, from attending a guest lecture by a founding member of The Pokémon Company to watching a live sumo training session. 👀

Her experiences didn't stop there. Amelia ventured beyond Tokyo, where one trip stood out above the rest: a homestay with a local family in Nanbu, Aomori. There, she was welcomed with incredible warmth and found that genuine connection could transcend language and cultural barriers. Life on the farm also offered something she didn't know she needed: a chance to slow down, far from her life back home. 🇸🇬

Thank you, Amelia, for sharing your unforgettable summer with us. ⛅

🌏 joined presidents and senior leaders from across the Universitas 21 (U21) network at the Annual Network Meeting and the inaugural Leadership Summit 2026. Coinciding with the University of Glasgow's 575th anniversary celebrations, the four-day programme covered alliance discussions on strategic direction and broader conversations with policymakers, civic leaders, and international experts on higher education's role in society.

👥 It was also an opportunity to reconnect with colleagues from Universitas 21, Fudan University, 고려대학교 Korea University, Lund University, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Tecnológico de Monterrey, The University of Edinburgh, UC Davis, University of Glasgow, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, University of Johannesburg, Universität Zürich, Waseda University, and beyond.

🤝 Many thanks to the U21 Secretariat, the University of Glasgow, and all participants—we value the meaningful collaborations across the network, as showcased in the U21 Annual Impact Video: https://youtu.be/hK-6-3E7W4Y

Meet David from NUS College, who spent last summer at Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico. 🇲🇽 🛫

Like many students, David was deterred by the cost of studying abroad until he discovered the funding options available to him.

With his PSEA funds, he went beyond the classroom and into conversations that no lecture could replicate—from speaking with refugees at migrant shelters to meeting consul-generals from multiple Latin American countries.

Thank you, David, for reminding us that finances shouldn't be a barrier to an impactful summer abroad.

What does a transformative study abroad experience look like? 🌏

Ask Ziyan—a New Colombo Plan Scholar from Macquarie University, whose academic curiosity turned into career direction after a semester at NUS! 🦁

The multidisciplinary lens of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences laid the foundation for a deeper understanding of international relations—but it was through student-led forums and an internship with the Middle East Institute that these theories came alive outside the classroom. Reflecting on these experiences, he shared: "It showed me the value of engaging with diverse perspectives across the Indo-Pacific and confirmed that this is an area I would like to pursue further." 🧠

Thank you, Ziyan, for showing how studying abroad can become one of the most formative chapters of one's university journey!
