At the recent NUS Global Exchangers Mixer, 200 students at every stage of the exchange journey gathered for dinner—from those preparing to leave, exchangers currently at NUS, to returnees fresh from exchange. ✈️

The evening kicked off with "Where in the World?", a game of guessing countries from zoomed-in photos. Then came "Why in the World?!", where students took turns reading out statements of common beliefs and deciding whether they agreed or disagreed. 👀🔥

It was a fun way for our outgoing students to get a candid look at life abroad. 🌍

We hope everyone learnt a thing or two from one another, and that the conversations and curiosity carry on long after the mixer! ✨

🌏 A change of environment can reveal new ways of thinking 💡

👤 This June, Wang Zilun from the NUS College of Design and Engineering experienced this firsthand during the 2026 Association of Pacific Rim Universities ( ) Undergraduate Leaders' Programme at the Southern University of Science and Technology - SUSTech in China 🇨🇳

🏙️ Shenzhen became a classroom of its own. From visiting Huawei Ox Horn Campus to exploring the city’s wider innovation ecosystem, he came to appreciate how technological progress depends on more than research alone—it also takes manufacturing capabilities, supply networks, and collaboration across sectors ⚙️

🧩 Working with an international team to bring different ideas together into a coherent capstone proposal also shaped his understanding of leadership as “the ability to connect people, disciplines, and institutions around a shared goal” 🤝

NUS STEER India 2026 may be over, but the memories live on. 🇮🇳✈️

This recess week, 29 NUS students spent nine days in Mumbai and Agra, where they gained a deeper understanding of India's history, economy and culture.

Brighton from NUS Business School, National University of Singapore captured it best:

"Before the trip, I didn't know much about India's incredible festivals, economy and communities. I enjoyed learning about the country beyond the usual tourist attractions and exploring places I wouldn't normally have visited."

Experiences like these are why we're committed to creating more opportunities for our students to learn beyond the classroom. We look forward to the next NUS STEER programme!

During his semester at the University of Colorado Boulder, Guan Rong found his favourite hangout spot on a quiet bench in Badlands National Park. 🇺🇸 There, he and his friends watched the sky turn a soft shade of pink in their final few moments of exchange. 🌅

Meet Irvin from National University of Singapore, Faculty of Science, who spent last winter at Tohoku University! 🇯🇵 ❄️

As a Japanese Studies major, studying abroad in Tohoku was an easy choice — he could improve his Japanese and apply the theories he learnt at NUS to his experiences there. 📖

After spending two weeks in the region, his highlight was this: visiting Yamadera, a temple perched atop snow-covered mountains. There, he learned how the landscape has inspired generations of Japanese poets, including Matsuo Bashō, shaping Japan’s cultural history. 🏔️

✈️ Sometimes, going abroad changes the questions you come home asking 💭

🌏 For Shermaine Kuah from the National University of Singapore, Faculty of Science, some of the most thought-provoking moments from the 2026 Association of Pacific Rim Universities ( ) Undergraduate Leaders' Programme at the Southern University of Science and Technology - SUSTech in China came from conversations with fellow students from across the Pacific Rim 👀

💬 From comparing how social norms shape the use of public green spaces in Chile and Shenzhen, to hearing how Singapore's internship culture can seem unusually intense to peers from Korea and Thailand, these candid exchanges became one of the most valuable parts of her overseas experience 💡

🤖 In a programme centred on AI and technology came a decidedly human takeaway: technology can enable connections, but community is built through shared experiences and late-night conversations 🫶

Puspa has always seen Paris as the heart of the fashion world, and what better way to experience it firsthand than to walk the runway for the Sciences Po Fashion Show Association! 🇫🇷

Behind the scenes, she witnessed her team pouring their heart and soul into each model's look, tailoring every design to reflect a distinct vision. And so it was an honour for her to bring their creations to life on the runway. 💃✨

Last Saturday, 29 students flew to Mumbai for NUS STEER India 2026. 🇮🇳 ✈️

Their stay in Mumbai has been packed so far, from exploring the city's rich cultural heritage to networking with representatives from Kenvue, Bombay Stock Exchange and more! ✨

Here's what they got up to:

1️⃣Uncovered how the Bombay Stock Exchange powers India's economic growth 💰
2️⃣Gained insights into the diplomatic, economic, and strategic relationship between Singapore and India at the Consulate-General of the Republic of Singapore in Mumbai 🤝
3️⃣Engaged with senior representatives at GIC to learn about the company's operations and market strategies
4️⃣Unpacked Kenvue's strategies for the Indian consumer market 🧪
5️⃣Immersed in the world of Bollywood at Bollywood Park Film City 🎥
6️⃣Explored South Mumbai through a guided heritage tour, covering Mumbai Town Hall, Gateway of India and more! 🚶🏽
