Growth often happens in the moments we least expect.

For Kimmy Yeo (BBA, Class of 2026), it was not just academics that shaped his NUS Business School journey. It was shaped by professors who inspired him beyond the classroom, friends who supported him through challenges, and opportunities that encouraged him to step outside his comfort zone.

A defining chapter of his university experience was the Student Exchange Programme in China, where Kimmy gained a newfound sense of independence and built new friendships.

As he graduates, Kimmy leaves with more than a degree. He leaves with lifelong friendships, unforgettable experiences and memories that will stay with him long after commencement.

How much can life change in 10 years?

In 2016, Sukma Kesumo Widjaja was studying at a small university in Indonesia, eager to make the most of every opportunity but still uncertain about what the future would bring.

Fast forward to 2026, and that future has unfolded in ways he never imagined. Today, Sukma is graduating from NUS Business School with an MBA, living and working in Singapore, and celebrating milestones including completing his MBA and getting married.

Looking back, his message to his younger self is a powerful reminder:
"Trust the process. Keep moving forward. Never give up. You are far more capable than you realise."

As we celebrate the Class of 2026, we also celebrate the resilience, courage and determination that define every graduate's journey.

2016 Yue Yue would not believe how far this journey would take her.

At 14, Chen Yue Yue left home and came to Singapore alone to begin a new life in a foreign country, with a different education system and many unknowns ahead.

10 years later, she is graduating from NUS Business School with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with Honours, preparing to pursue a PhD, and sharing her university journey with juniors.

What once felt like a risky decision became a journey of courage, independence, and growth.

Congratulations, Yue Yue. Here’s to everything you have overcome, and everything that lies ahead. 🎓

For Jefrey Lam (BBA Class of 2026), his journey at NUS Business School was shaped by a willingness to step beyond what felt familiar.

As the BBA Valedictorian for the Class of 2026, Jefrey embraced opportunities he might never have considered when he first arrived at BIZ. Through those experiences, he learned that growth often lives just outside your comfort zone.

One of the most important beliefs he is taking with him is the value of betting on yourself. After switching courses and seeing friends take their own leaps of faith throughout university, he realised that while success is never guaranteed, taking that chance is often the first step towards something greater.

As he moves Beyond BIZ, Jefrey carries forward a mindset of curiosity, courage, and confidence in embracing new possibilities.

Professor Teo Chung Piaw officially began his term as Dean of NUS Business School on 1 July 2026.

An NUS alumnus who returned after completing his PhD at MIT, Professor Teo has dedicated more than 30 years to NUS as a researcher, educator and academic leader. His internationally recognised research spans operations research, optimisation and machine learning, creating impact across industries from aviation and logistics to ecommerce and urban systems. He was elected a Fellow of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences in 2019, and was conferred the Public Administration Medal (Silver) at Singapore's 2023 National Day Awards.

As Dean, he has outlined three priorities for the School: preparing students for an AI-driven future, investing in the growth of faculty and staff, and strengthening the pathways that translate research into meaningful impact for industry and society.

"This is a once-in-a-lifetime moment, and I want the School to rise to the occasion and seize the chance to transform into a world-leading institution."

For Bennet Niemann (MSc in Finance, Class of 2026), his journey at NUS Business School was about learning to think more deeply and critically.

As the Class of 2026 Valedictorian, Bennet developed an appreciation for thorough analysis and learned that understanding the assumptions behind a conclusion is often just as important as the conclusion itself.

His experience was also enriched by friendships formed with peers from across Asia and around the world, giving him a global network that he will continue to value long after graduation.

As he moves Beyond BIZ, Bennet hopes to help finance solutions to tomorrow’s development challenges and contribute to shaping the systems that support them. He leaves BIZ with a global perspective, lifelong friendships, and a mindset grounded in thoughtful analysis.

Swipe through the camera roll that tells the story of an unforgettable MBA journey for Munirah Binte Ismail. 📸

It began with an unexpected win, taking home Best 2-Minute Presentation during "Launch Your Transformation", an intensive orientation bootcamp. What seemed like a small moment at the time became the start of a transformative experience.

From tackling some of the MBA's most important group projects with teammates who became friends, to late-night study sessions in a Brisbane Airbnb, every photo captures a chapter of growth.

Some friendships extended beyond the classroom, bringing together families, children, and cultures in ways that transcended language barriers. Along the way, classroom lessons evolved into real-world impact through the journey of becoming a startup co-founder and applying business knowledge to solve real challenges.

Perhaps the most meaningful photo is the one that would be sent back to a first-year self: organising the inaugural NUS MBA Healthcare Case Competition alongside an incredible team, bringing together 128 participants from 13 countries.

Sometimes, the best way to measure how far you've come is to look back at where you started.

For Nicole Tan, her NUS Business School (BIZ) journey was about learning to show up, even when she did not feel fully ready.

From the last day of school with her project team, to candid memories with close friends from RC4, to trying new things through CCAs like kayaking, her time at NUS was marked by growth, friendship and courage.

BIZ taught her that she was more resilient than she thought, and that growth often came from stepping into uncertainty. As she moves from BIZ to what lies ahead, Nicole brings with her the courage to take initiative, to speak up, reach out, and create opportunities for herself.

For Nadya Heryanto, her experience at NUS Business School was a journey of curiosity, impact and compassion.

As a Bachelor of Business Administration (Accountancy) student, she discovered that she was most motivated when she could connect business with real-world impact, using her skills not just to analyse problems, but to contribute to solutions that matter.

Many of her most meaningful university experiences began with simple curiosity. She attended an Oliver Wyman open house and later completed a consulting internship, joined NUS SAVE after discovering it at SLF and eventually became Co-President, and started a YouTube channel because she wanted to understand what content creation felt like.

Along the way, Nadya also learnt to see success more holistically. Beyond grades, achievements and career opportunities, she now sees success in meaningful relationships, good health, personal growth, and having the energy to pursue what matters.

As she moves from BIZ to beyond, Nadya brings with her compassion — for others, and for herself.

Our phones carry more than just photos — they hold the moments, people, and memories that tell the story of a journey.

For Abdul Matin, a Bachelor of Business Administration graduate, his camera roll before Commencement is filled with meaningful snapshots from his time at NUS Business School. It began with Jam’n’Hop, the freshman orientation programme that marked the start of his BIZAD experience, where he stepped out of his comfort zone and began building lifelong friendships.

Along the way came group projects, late-night study sessions, coconut shake breaks, and a circle of friends who made the toughest days feel lighter. One of the most meaningful full-circle moments came at BIZConnect, where Abdul stood at the front of the room to share how his exchange and SFI experiences had shaped his growth.

For Jan Manthey, his journey at NUS Business School was truly a global one.

Through the Master of Science in Management + CEMS Master in International Management programme, Jan studied across Singapore, China, and the United States, adapting to a new environment every six months while managing visas, securing internships, and building friendships with peers from around the world.

Along the way, his experience became personal in the most meaningful way. It was at NUS where Jan met his wife, who was on exchange in Singapore, and years later, they graduated together through CEMS.

Today, Jan works in an international environment, collaborating with teams across borders. As he moves forward, he carries with him a global mindset and a key lesson from BIZ: the importance of intercultural communication.
