On 17 October, CAIG had the incredibly rare opportunity to visit the Internal Security Department Heritage Centre. Members got to learn more about the history of the premier domestic security and intelligence agency of Singapore, past crises, and how it continues to safeguard the country’s security, stability, and sovereignty 🌍

We were reminded of what it takes behind the scenes to keep the calm in society, and how the agency tackles rehabilitation in a holistic manner. Members also got the chance to interact with officers up close and appreciated the casual atmosphere.

We would like to extend our greatest gratitude to Internal Security Department for the opportunity and for making the experience such an eye-opening and insightful one ✨

CAIG recently joined SMU Apol’s final dialogue of the year on 30 September, The Long View Forum: Past, Present and Future. A large number of members benefited from the introductions, panel discussion, and a presentation by Minister Shanmugam about the current and upcoming concerns of our country.

SUSS CAIG EXCO Bonding Day 2026! ✨

Last month, some of CAIG’s 5th Executive Committee took some time out to relax, have fun and enjoy a well-deserved bonding day together, right before executing ConvoPoint! From night cycling to good conversations over dinner, it was a great chance for everyone to unwind and simply enjoy each other’s company.

What does it mean for a small state like Singapore to navigate an increasingly complex and uncertain world?

Almost 100 participants came together for the flagship dialogue, ConvoPoint 2026, jointly organised by SUSS Current Affairs Interest Group (CAIG) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), for an evening of candid conversations on Singapore’s place in the world.

We were honoured to have Second Minister for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs Ms Sim Ann (Sim Ann 沈颖) and Ambassador Ong Keng Yong, former ASEAN Secretary-General and Executive Deputy Chairman of RSIS, share their insights on Singapore’s foreign policy approach, navigating major-power relations, ASEAN, and the stakes facing small states.

More than a dialogue, ConvoPoint was a space for students to ask difficult questions, challenge assumptions, and better understand the realities and responsibilities of being a small state in a changing world. A sincere thank you to our speakers, student moderator Mr Sieng Wu, the larger organising group, and every student who joined us and contributed to the conversation 🌏

We are delighted to recognise and celebrate the achievements of our CAIG members at GMUN Singapore 2026. Their dedication and active participation throughout the conference have culminated in two noteworthy achievements. 👏

Our delegates brought home the Best Large University Delegation Award! This achievement reflects the collective commitment and efforts of our delegates.

We would also like to congratulate CAIG member, Aliyah Jefri, who received the Diplomacy Award, a recognition of outstanding diplomacy and constructive engagement throughout the conference.

As part of the Global Model United Nations (GMUN) Singapore 2026 experience, CAIG had the pleasure of hosting international GMUN participants on two exciting tours around Singapore!

Our first tour brought participants around the SUSS campus, which featured a panel discussion by CAIG’s EXCO members and a CAIG staple event - Kopi Talk where the participants had the opportunity to partake in friendly debates and discussion on the topic of ‘Power or Progress’. It was a wonderful opportunity for everyone to exchange perspectives, engage in thoughtful conversations and connect beyond the conference setting. 💬

Our second tour took participants beyond campus to explore some of Singapore’s iconic sights and landmarks. Through the tour, we had the chance to share a little more about Singapore’s culture and identity, while creating meaningful memories with participants from different parts of the world. ✨

A heartfelt thank you to all the GMUN participants who joined us and made these tours so enjoyable, and to our club members who dedicated their time and effort to hosting and organising them. We are grateful to everyone who made these experiences memorable! 🤝🌍

From 11-15 August 2026, Global Model UN Singapore 2026, organised by the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) was held at Suntec City Convention Centre. CAIG supported the event across three fronts — our Logistics personnel supported events operations, Secretaries assisted the Chairs, and five of our members participated as delegates. During the event, members engaged with the international community, exchanging perspectives and exploring pressing global issues through the lens of diplomacy and international relations.

Through this experience, our members utilised and strengthened their skills in public speaking, negotiation, research and diplomacy, while learning to collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Beyond the conference, the experience enriched their understanding of global affairs and encouraged them to approach complex issues with greater confidence, openness and critical thinking. 🌍✨

Congratulations to all our Logistics personnel, Secretaries, and Delegates who represented our interest group and the University! Your commitment, enthusiasm and efforts were integral in making this experience as memorable and successful as it was! 🙌
