From entering through EAE into the Common Engineering Programme to specialising in the Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (DME), Alysa’s journey at SP felt like the stars aligning, taking her all the way to representing Singapore and SP at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 in Additive Manufacturing! 🇸🇬⚙️

One campus. Generations of stories. A legacy that lives on. 💛

On 10 October, SP alumni returned to our original Prince Edward Road campus for one last homecoming before redevelopment and reconnected with old friends, revisited cherished memories and celebrated the SP spirit that continues to unite us 🥹

The event welcomed 300+ pioneer alumni, prominent graduates, staff and current students, with Mr David Neo, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Second Minister for Education, as our Guest of Honour.

The event traced how the Polytechnic’s mission has evolved over seven decades, from training the architects, engineers, and seafarers Singapore needed in its early years to preparing students for careers shaped by technology, innovation, and sustainability!

Some highlights of the event:
✨ Pioneer memories: SP alumni looked back on their days at Prince Edward Road and shared how their journeys shaped their lives and contributions to Singapore.
💙 A family legacy: Families reflected on how their connections to SP have continued across generations.
🌱 Passing the torch: Four generations of SP alumni who became educators shared how their teachers inspired them, and how they continue to inspire the next generation.

Together, these stories remind us that SP is more than a place of learning. It is a community whose impact continues long after graduation.

With $3,590,000 raised for the Prince Edward Road Campus Homecoming 2026 Bursary, the SP community is also paying it forward, supporting approximately 91 bursaries for students!

From the pioneers who helped build Singapore’s workforce to today’s learners shaping what comes next, our spirit of Berkhidmat Dengan Keahlian — To Serve with Skill — lives on.

Huge congratulations to Team SP A for being the CHAMPIONS at the Inter-Polytechnic Debate Championship 2026! 🗣️🔥🏆

This year, SP Debates and its EXCO members hosted the championship, going head-to-head with debaters from Temasek Polytechnic, Nanyang Polytechnic and Ngee Ann Polytechnic!

After a series of intense debates, we’re thrilled to see SP A (Ace, Emily, Yuhan, Denisse and Seoeun) clinch the championship title! 🏆

And that’s not all, our debaters also took home these achievements:

🔥 SP B, 1st Reserve Break Team – Zeph, Amon, Yufan & Yolanda

Congrats to our alumna, Jiayi, on receiving the prestigious Ngee Ann Kongsi Scholarship for the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Design Practice programme at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA)! 🥳

🏆 From idea to innovation!

Congratulations to our SP students for clinching the top prize at the inaugural Chua Thian Poh Summit innovation competition, themed "AI for Good and Smart Cities", hosted by Nanyang Technological University (NTU) 🤩👏

The 3 developed an AI tool called BuilderLab which uses generative AI to turn simple text prompts into physical hardware product designs. This tool can refine product concepts, generate 3D models and internal component layouts, and provide advice on prototyping and manufacturing.

Inspired by the challenges of developing hardware, which often requires knowledge of industrial design, electronics, 3D modelling, and manufacturing, the team set out to make product creation more accessible to everyone!

We're proud to see our students transforming bold ideas into real-world solutions and pushing the boundaries of innovation 😍

Not every internship ends with a product launch 👀🧴

During her internship at HYSSES, Chloe got the chance to formulate a product to life! As a R&D intern, she helped develop the HYBiome Root Revival Shampoo through rounds of testing, tweaking and refining until it was ready for consumers.

For Chloe, seeing something she worked on become a real product was a reminder of how far classroom learning can go when put into practice. She was also guided by a fellow DPCS alumna, making the experience an SP full-circle moment! 💗

After graduating from ITE with a GPA of 4.0, Qian Tong continued her journey at SP with her sights set on becoming a civil engineer. Just one semester in, she was awarded the Lee Kuan Yew Scholarship to Encourage Upgrading and the Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Book Prize at the Ministry of Education (MOE) Special Awards Ceremony 2026. 🏆

From learning AutoCAD and getting hands-on with concrete testing, to taking on leadership roles in ABE Club, every experience has helped her grow more independent and adaptable as she pursues her Diploma in Civil Engineering (DCE).

Her advice to fellow students? Don’t be afraid to ask for help, try new opportunities and focus on your own progress. 💙 Here’s to learning, growing and building a future that makes a difference! 🏗️🌏

For Han Qian, Y2 student in Diploma in Applied Ai & Analytics (DAAA), balancing school with daily archery training has meant plenty of late nights and self-discipline.

After applying for three years, he was finally awarded the Singapore Olympic Foundation-Peter Lim Scholarship 2026, a milestone that means even more after everything it took to get there.

Some concepts click better when you get to try them for yourself. 🧪💡

That is the beauty of hands-on learning. Concepts stop being something you only read about and become something you experience firsthand.

During his time at SP, Theodore put on his lab coat and did exactly that! Guided by our School of Chemical & Life Sciences (CLS) lecturer and students, he carried out experiments, explored different chemistry and biological laboratory techniques, and watched the science he had learned from textbooks come to life. 🔬

What happens when coffee waste becomes the main character ☕✨

C³ gave spent coffee grounds from SP Food Court 1 a new life by innovating it into a chocolate spread for the SMART & Sustainable AI-Powered Food Product Development Competition.

After plenty of testing, tweaking and stepping outside their comfort zones, their idea went on to win the Grand Champion Award.
