We had an awesome Afterhours mini concert Monday evening, with student performances celebrating the end of this semester’s Platform!

Organised by .idclub and DID Student Life, the event brought together great music, good vibes, and treats like Chagee🧋 and traditional ice cream 🍨 — all enjoyed alongside performances by our talented student musicians 🎤🎸🥁.

Here’s to a memorable close to the semester — we hope everyone had a great time!

Sometimes, taking things out of context can yield intriguing results! That is the beauty of design.

P.Pileus is a plant alarm clock. It helps restore communication between plants as they would in their natural habitat, as well as the ability to protect themselves against herbivorous insects and diseases. This is critical since urban plants are potted and hence isolated from one another, which inhibits communication between plants.

P.Pileus aims to empower urban plants to better defend themselves and communicate in an urban environment.

Arch is a product of the domestication of a classic architectural feature, bringing character and elegance into the living space. A low coffee table made entirely out of plywood; bendable plywood technology is used to achieve a thin, smooth and continuous surface. Clean lines and a low profile leave the overall form simple and understated, giving space and quiet attention to the painted arch.

What if creating music could be fun and accessible to all? DID helps your ideas take form!

Tangibilising music by transforming musical elements into forms, KIMI creates the possibility for everyday people to play, learn and construct their own music, without prior musical knowledge.

Fancy exploring new methods in an experimental bid for design progress? DID supports that too!

Popcast aims to spark curiosity and interest by casting balloons inflated through an unorthodox manner. The form left behind in the lamp product is a testament to its unusual process, inviting the user to appreciate and wonder at both the process and the product.

In DID, we aim to be a few steps ahead in terms of trying to find new ways to use the resources around us.

For instance, this portable checkers set is made from teak timber claddings that once dressed the pillars of Changi Airport Terminal 2.

Bonvo is a clay jamming studio where it is designed to empower people to make meaningful bonding activity through clay making. It also provides an avenue for people to rekindle their interpersonal relationships.

When you visit the studio, you and your partner will be given a deck of prompts where you will have to mold out your answers by using the clay provided. During this activity, the questions on the card actually forces both parties to really think through and reminisce about the past and picture that particular piece of memory out. They can then discuss with one another at the end after showing each other their final products.

With the intention of improving the process of how sentiment is maintained and passed down from giver to receiver, this unique keepsake allows the giver to record a voice message that accompanies the object they intend to pass down.

The receiver is then able to keep a piece of the sentiment from their loved ones, even in the absence of the physical object. Designed to be simple to use and cheap to produce, this keepsake can be appreciated and used by everyone of all financial backgrounds.
