FWı Electric Motorcycle Conversion is a collaboration between the USP and FoE at NUS aiming for mass-conversion of motorcycles in

i is an undergraduate student project at the National University of Singapore. The goal of FWi is to investigate the engineering and environmental feasibility of electric motorcycle conversion in Singapore. FWi is jointly offered by the University Scholars Programme (USP) and the Faculty of Engineering (FoE). At FoE, the FWi project is affiliated with the Design-Centric Programme (DCP) at the Engineering Design & Innovation Centre (EDIC).

FWi, THE END

The "life" of this Honda CBR400 motorcycle took a surprising turn, six years ago when we bought it second-hand as the first FrogWorks project vehicle.

It underwent conversion to a veritable electric motorcycle, and completed the WAVE rally 2014, 1600km through the Swiss Alps, winning the 3rd prize in the motorcycle category.

Time to say "Goodbye"! The motorcycle will be be scrapped, after we recover some of the electronics and instruments.

FWi took part in a FrogWorks retrospective exhibition in the past couple of weeks. The Science Centre Singapore asked the team to display the motorcycle. The kids enjoyed taking FWi for an imaginary ride.

First FrogWorks Graduation Party

This significant event happened on 13/6/2015 at the Changi Sailing Club. Shreyas and Yang Xuan are graduating and the FrogWorks gang gathered to mark the occasion. These two actually started FrogWorks in 2012, along with Brian and Aloysius, around the FW1 platform, a motorcycle that became FWı Electric Motorcycle Conversion. In her projects, Yang Xuan studied the environmental impact of such motorcycle conversions and Shreyas explored how lithium ion batteries can be safely and efficiently mounted into motorcycle frames designed for combustion engines.

FWı arrived back home, in NUS engineering, yesterday, after being on display at three venues over the past couple of months. One last glimpse at the Great World City exhibition, for the cool light effects.

A small piece of news regarding road approval in Singapore: LTA is asking for three more documents. We have requested written confirmation of the nature of these documents and are awaiting their response. With that, we hope we can make progress soon.

FWi moved on to VivoCity as part of the NUS exhibit "Building Our Nation through Science & Technology".

We used the move to bring FWi to our sponsor MotoWorld who generously replaced a defective brake cylinder, in preparation for road approval. Many thanks to MotoWorld.
