As the second and final part of our industry visit series, GSC organized a visit to the ROHDE & SCHWARZ Singapore HQ on May 22. Our group hopped on a bus all the way to Changi Business Park for this one. The visit started with a welcome note and company presentation by their Senior R&D director where were told about the timeline of company's growth as well as their interesting engineering innovations. Subsequently, we were split into two groups and and taken for a demo tour. Our first stop was a room where we were shown a demo of the latest 5G simulation software developed by them for use with their 5G test equipment, with some of us even trying the software. The next stop was their demo room where we were shown an array of test and measurement equipment developed by them for digital signal analysis, video packet analysis, network analysis etc. and also told briefly about their working. This was followed by a networking afternoon tea where some nice snacks were arranged for us while we networked with the company staff on their work, company culture and career opportunities. Finally, we all took a big group photo and left for campus on our bus. It was a very enjoyable and learning experience for all of us. With this, GSC 2018-19 committee bids adieu to everyone, and all the best to the next GSC! :)

GSC successfully organized a visit to the SEAGATE Design Center at One-North on May 13. We got a phenomenal response from ECE graduate students in terms of registrations and ~25 students joined us finally due to limit on number of participants. The visit was very informative, with Seagate staff guiding us to their processing & development clean room, vibration and drop test room as well as acoustic test room. We were told about the end-to-end process that leads to the production of a Seagate hard drive as well as the latest technologies that Seagate is working on. It was followed by a networking session-cum-snacks break with NUS alumni employed with Seagate, department heads as well as HR personnel. Students were briefed about current job & internship opportunities at Seagate. Here are some photos from the event. Thanks to everyone who joined us! Incidentally, this is also the 40th anniversary year of Seagate :)
