James Cook University offers Higher Degree by Research programs such as Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Philosophy and pathways to a higher degree. Additionally, the campus offers courses at the pre-university level, specifically designed to provide pathways for students who are unable to immediately meet university entrance standards. The Singapore campus of James Cook University is located at Sims Drive. The campus provides students with access to a full range of facilities and services to support their learning. A new milestone for aquaculture research at JCU Singapore. 🐟🌊

Today, James Cook University (Singapore Campus) launched Singapore’s first university-based Asian seabass broodstock and hatchery facility.

The new Broodstock and Larviculture Facility will strengthen teaching, research and industry collaboration in sustainable tropical aquaculture, while supporting work in fish reproduction, genetics, nutrition, aquatic animal health and hatchery production. It will also give undergraduate and postgraduate students valuable hands-on experience in broodstock management, spawning, hatchery operations and larval rearing.

The facility was developed with partial funding support from the Singapore Food Agency through the Singapore Food Story R&D Programme 1.0. This milestone reflects JCU’s commitment to research impact, workforce development and Singapore’s food resilience.

Our students recently visited Singapore Oceanarium for a behind-the-scenes look at marine conservation, habitat management and the diverse career opportunities within the industry.

“I wanted to develop the knowledge, skills, and professional competencies needed to become a professional counsellor who can support others through their challenges with empathy, respect, and understanding. Love is listening.”

The lectures are highly engaging, combining theoretical knowledge with practical discussions, role-plays, and reflections that help us develop our counselling skills.”

Looking back, Carin says the program has helped her become more intentional in both her professional and personal life, while preparing her to support individuals from diverse backgrounds with empathy and confidence.
